Cola has lost us more runs on defense than Jose has gotten us on Offense

So having Cola on the field is like adding a Jose Bautista to an opponents lineup

Lol defense? That s*** isn't important dude

More dingerzzzz is how we will finally make the playoffs after twenty years

If Hutchison can limit the number of balls hit into left field to Colabello then the Blue Jays have a good chance of winning. I believe Jose Reyes will have a good game tonight since he has had 4 days rest.

I want to root for Colabella but his errors and limited range are really killing the Blue Jays chances.

Gibbons doesn't know what defense is. He never has. Just puts what he perceives as the best offensive unit out there and hopes for the best (Francisco at third, Glaus at short, Edwin in left, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc). It's spanned a damn decade and he still does it.

Much like the Royals did with Ned Yost, the Jays have to "dummy proof" the team in order to get by with Gibbons as manager. Meaning, get rid of Navarro and LOLabello and call up Thole and Pompey. In that scenario, he'll have no choice but to use Thole strictly with the Dickster and Pompey everyday in left. Get rid of the replacement level vets that Gibby loves so much and he'll be forced to use what's left. That's the only way.

The US to Canadian dollar exchange rate has sunk to $0.77 USD/CAD; this makes it more difficult for the team to afford player contracts that are almost always in US dollars. Every $10 million in Canadian revenue (tickets, merchandise, Canadian TV revenue) becomes only $7.7 million in US revenue.

Hopefully the exchange rate will increase in the future. A low exchange rate is great for Canadian manufactures and distributors who sell to the US but bad for Canadian sports team in the MLB and NHL.

I predict that the Blue Jays will have a good win loss record over the next two weeks. The 4 day rest will benefit older impact players on the Blue Jays such as Bautista, Encarnacion, Reyes, and Martin, and also Sanchez should be back soon (after one more game in Buffalo).

Not even a factor. Rogers usually hedges before the season on currency fluctuations. But the NHL stands to take a hit.. most of their revenue is from Canada.

Until oil prices (and other resources) rebound, our dollar is likely to stay at this level for a while. It's not just our dollar... Aussie and Kiwi(New Zealand) dollars are way down too. Plus, until we see increased de-dollarization of the US dollar(which is being aimed for by Russia and China), the US dollar is likely to stay high. It's not just our dollar.. every currency is down almost the same amount as us against the US dollar.

And it's no excuse.. the currency was this low when the Jays won the World Series in 1992 and 1993.

Do you know the revenue breakdown for the Blue Jays? What percentage is in US dollars (MLB USD TV revenue that is split between all clubs) versus Canadian revenue (merchandise, Canadian TV revenue, ticket sales).

The weak Canadian dollar seemed to have a negative effect on the Expos. Although the effect on the Blue Jays might be less than on NHL Canadian teams, I wonder how it could have no effect. Certainly the Blue Jays would be better off if the dollar was still at par as it was a few years ago than at 0.77 USD/CAD.

The Expos were hurt by bad, cheap ownership and a terrible TV deal.

I remember someone posting pictures of Stroman, Sanchez and Archer together at various places, including Raptors games.

That's right, this is all thanks to Stroman.

Is there any chance of the Blue Jays getting Chris Archer? (probably not but it would be a great pick up) Maybe once he becomes a free agent in a few more years.

Great pitcher and an even better human being. Guys like Archer don't have to do anything, but he chooses to speak to kids in a different country/city. Lots of respect from you on this.

No way he finishes that contract with the Rays. The team has serious long-term issues, not just because of the stadium, but the roster itself, as Longoria is in serious decline already:

He'll be dealt in coming years for young bats.. especially considering the Rays have very few bats in the farm. Odorizzi is in the same boat.

The hell are you talking about? Players don't finish their contracts with the Rays because the Rays can no longer afford them. There's no affordability issue on a 44/8 contract.

LOL at this guy's shtick. Every post is Armageddon for rivals in the AL East. I wonder which regular will be outed as having this account as a fake one?

Please don't get on the eDetectives bandwagon. Half this forum is already on it.

That's not the problem. It's more due to the fact the Rays can't afford to buy bats, and their farm hasn't produced much in recent years outside of Kiermaier. They're going to end up making more trades again for bats after this season, as Cabrera, DeJesus, Jaso are free agents, Loney will be gone after 2016 (if not sooner.. his contract is backloaded.), and Nick Franklin has bust written all over him.

And absolutely none of that will mean anything 6 years down the road, when Archer's options come into effect.

Dont worry

they will find the next decades archer, and Odorizzi and such.

With the Rays the pitching setup will continue to produce young top of the line pitchers.
