ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Cueto is a legitimately elite pitcher. Last 5 years of sub-3 ERA and low-3 FIP. He's utterly elite. It's not like Dickey who relied on a pitcher's park with a flyball pitch. Rental, no thanks unless it's a steal of a trade...in Jays favour.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 What if the deal's contingent on an extension? Different animal, but you're reaching now as Cueto has no reason to forgo free agency unless he knows he's injured or some other reason.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 As tough as it is to lose the last 2 games, the last thing I want to see is AA make another Esmil Rogers/Marlins/Dickey trade. I really have seen him give away enough assets for pitching where I can say he's not very good at it. If we're going to sell out this season one way or another, I'd much prefer we got bullpen help by bringing up some of the guys like Boyd, Castro, and Norris and hurting their development rather than trading those type of guys for relievers that may not fare any better, or that cost a crapload in salary next year.

I'm fine with this option. Or they should've gone over budget in the off season to help the pitching staff. If they trade the guys close to the majors, they'll set the franchise back once again. Edit: I'd be ok if they were getting a young stud with years of control, but that's wishful thinkin'.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Lol this will be good. Watching AA s*** himself is always entertaining.
labadee Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I thought the general blue jays discussion thread was for things like this?
Jayday Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 WOW !! Martinez with 10 rbi's today !!!
Jayday Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 You could have vented in the GDT. Yeah, it's fun scrolling through 30 "f*** ! " posts .
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 f*** no, this is all about me. If you hadn't wrote this I might have left it. This board is always about me!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Lol, my suggestion may come true!
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Lol, my suggestion may come true! Don't get your hopes up. It might be Francis. Dear god, I hope not.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Don't get your hopes up. It might be Francis. Dear god, I hope not. Castro, Jenkins, and Norris are already on the 40 man. Realistically I'd have to think Jenkins will be one of the guys. I think I'll make my prediction be Jenkins, Norris, and Infante. (edited because apparently I haven't paid attention to the minor league team in a while)
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Castro, Jenkins, and Norris are already on the 40 man. Realistically I'd have to think Jenkins will be one of the guys. It'll be interesting to see if they want to keep Castro and Norris starting games, or if they move them back up too. They might do something like call up Infante and Guilmet instead, but I kind of have to think one of Castro or Norris is coming up. Guilmet is gone and Castro hasn't pitched in like a month with a "finger" injury.
labadee Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 they should just let stroman pitch from a wheelchair
bronson44 Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Don't get your hopes up. It might be Francis. Dear god, I hope not. He did pitch today so he would be lined up for the next start
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Could Randy Wolf or Felix Doubront be one of the call-ups?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Could Randy Wolf or Felix Doubront be one of the call-ups? I doubt it. They seem a little thin down in AAA, and I'm not sure they'd want to lose them if they had to be sent down again a few days from now.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Guilmet is gone and Castro hasn't pitched in like a month with a "finger" injury. I was hoping no one would catch that.
baubau Verified Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Matt Boyd and Daniel Norris time. Trade the Chez!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I was hoping no one would catch that. Abomination of a post.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Jenkins, Francis and Boyd...........or Norris?

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I can't even count how many times I got shitted on in the off season for calling AA to.improve the bullpen
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Isn't the Jays' BP top half in ERA, FIP, and xFIP? I think 3rd in xFIP, I think 5th in FIP and 6th in ERA in the AL. I'm often wrong though so...
