admin Site Manager Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Would be amazing if he could even be decent offensively.
LTR Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 maybe we'll see relatively more production but his aggressiveness is still there. He swung at quite a few junk pitches yesterday. I don't think that will ever change. He's made it pretty clear he doesn't want to change. But he's putting better swings on the ball and making better contact lately.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Last time a thread like this was made, the Jays went on to s*** the bed with their sticks, thanks brah! Pffft. Take ur Irish potato superstition and fack off.......EDWIN BIATCH! !!
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Jays are mad they ain't first in homerz. ....getting close now.

Sgt. Floyd Verified Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 This team is in good shape right now. I can't expect my Jays line up to continue at this pace but anything even resembling it should make it interesting come trade time or even during the coming off season. They've got bats to spare. And Copeland lad, take a bow. It must have been some pressure to come in during a streak and pitch so easily. Even when he got a tad wild near the end he clawed it back. Runners on base never bothered him either and that's been the Jays' Achilles Heel for so long - smooth sailing until a runner gets on base and then it falls apart.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Its amazing how good this lineup is once you factor in Reyes. I don't think there is a lineup as good anywhere in the MLB.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Don't expect Saunders to be anything close to his past performance. He's missing a chunk of his knee now. No more speed, no more defense, no more power.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Your right a healthy Saunders would be amazing/. If Saunders was a player without health issues the Jays would have had to give up more than Happ. They knew what they got themselves into. Let's just be happy that his replacement level replacements have been temporarily good, at least offensively.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 when are we going to hear some news on travis....are they taking things slow because we are on a win streak He should be in buffalo's lineup soon.

Praxis Verified Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Seriously we are witnessing history here. As of today the Jays offense ranks: >1st in runs scored with 338. The next highest is the Damn Yankees and they have 60 fewer at 278. >1st in RBI's (no surprise there of course at 322 with the DY next at 266). >Ist in OPS at .782 and slugging % at .448. Bear in mind that only three teams in the majors have an OPS over .750 and by #10 you're at .720. >1st in doubles, extra base hits and total bases. And now some of my favourites: >Dead last in intentional walks in the majors with 1! After all, who are you going to walk to get to the next hitter? Possibly Goins? >5th in number of walks and only 18th in strike outs - great selective batting. >We are on pace to score 883 runs for the season, the most by a major league team since the bloody Yankees again got 915 in 2009.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I don't think patience and pitch recognition are things that can be learned. He will always be a hacker with limited skills. It doesn't happen often but lots of players improve changing their swing and/or approach including pitch recognition. Edwin up until midway through 2011 has terrible pitch selection on breaking stuff away. JD and Jose changed their swings and became stars. I don't see lightening striking 4 times with Pillar but if him reducing his leg kick gives him more comfort to see pitches a bit longer and if he can be just decent at the plate it would be a huge boost to a guy putting up a great defensive WAR already.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 The Saunders/Happ trade in hindsight has been terrible, we don't need saunders offense and happ would have been a good started for us this season.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 The Saunders/Happ trade in hindsight has been terrible, we don't need saunders offense and happ would have been a good started for us this season. 1. A win is a win. Offense or pitching, doesn't matter. 2 wins from Saunders and 2 wins from Happ would've been equal. 2. Offense is exponential. 3. Evaluating trades in hindsight is bad.

ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Imagine when EE and Joey Bats get hot at the same time? Nasty lineup.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Captain obvious in da house, that's why I said "In Hindsight". Ok? I'm saying your reasons behind that statement are debatable, and specifying that you evaluated it in hindsight doesn't make it any better.

It was just a comment, if you want to over analyze in a drug induced state of mine knock yourself out lol. Take it how you want, it was a basic statement that doesn't need in depth analysis.

Travis should be back in a couple weeks and it should be: Reyes Donaldson Bats EE Martin Smoak Travis Collabella/Valencia/Saunders Pillar That`s fricking insane..especially against lefties.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Smoak now up to a 145 wRC+. Smoak has got good power, has been hitting well great pickup.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Best team wRC+ vs. Lefties since fangraphs have been calculating it was the Dodgers in 2002 with 128. Jays are sitting at 140 right now. Do they break that record?
