The Blue Jays have the biggest scouting department and an analytics department that aggregates the information much better than the internet does with their inconsistent data. I don't know that we can take much of stance on their pick either way.

Right, and we should probably credit them with knowing what they're doing and assume they have a lot more information than any online draft source, but that doesn't mean we can't have discussion about it anyway. The Jays having an analytics department has never discouraged you or anyone else here from criticizing them on their baseball moves either, has it? Despite the fact that we literally always have less information than them. The whole purpose of the forum is to discuss baseball, and we can still offer our opinions despite knowing that we know less than the team does.

This wouldn't be much of a thread if we all waited for them to make a pick and said "well I'll assume they know what they're doing, so I'm glad they made a pick".

I'm done cluttering this thread with this garbage.

Are you referring to your uninformed draft opinions or your overreactionary posts to people attempting to get a rise out of you?

No, this is different from other transactions and on-field decisions. I am perfectly within my scope to offer original opinions on that stuff. I have seen every major leaguer play and can look up 97% of the existing information relevant to their future performance. The draft is different. We hardly have any information and have seen very few of these players in action.

So you're saying you've never held an opinion on a draft prospect before?

Where did I offer an original opinion in those posts? I celebrate any pick the Jays make because I trust them when it comes to the draft.

Hmmm...

So I was busy tonight and just got home. All I really cared about is getting Jeff Hoffman... we got him! Well done AA.

No qualms with the Pentecost pick either.

He can't hit, which is kind of an important part of the game of baseball.
He's 100% a reliever. Could pitch in the majors this year. It wouldn't be a bad pick IMO, this isn't the first round anymore.

Are you a scout, NorthOf49?

Haha ok you win. I got caught up in the draft last year. Am trying to contain myself this time around.

Couldn't agree more. TL's made a great thread and, given all the uncertainty, tonight should be a great draft.

I hope the Jays give me a nice birthday gift with their picks this year, not that I would know the results for years.

I know you're young and all but don't you have a smart phone you could load the online stream while you're in the bench or something?

well hopefully I won't be on the bench :) but my coach is one of those "I'll smash your phone if i see it" types and it's a baseball game so there are bats and stuff

What do you guys think of the rumor that Daz Cameron might slide all the way? If you're the Jays, do you steal him on a prayer that you can get him to sign, knowing that there's a good possibility that he won't? He was projected to go top-5 and now some people think he'll get to the Astros all the way down at 37.

lol I used to compile a huge list of quotes on stupid s*** that other posters used to say on bluejaysway.ca many, many years ago. I would pull that quote down the road and embarrass the poster. I would eventually get banned for that cause mods were sore losers. Shame that site got ruined.

That site was actually run by Marc Hulet who is now a writer for fangraphs.

Hells yeah it was a great alternative to the mlb forums. I think I posted there for a year or two? Earliest memory I can recall.. making a big deal about signing stud Justin Jackson lol. Then it went to s***, I went back to mlb forums to troll around until dogg turned that place to s***.

It's like the Orioles commentator that made fun of Jerome Williams pink glove, right before his broadcast partner told him the glove was to honor his dead mom.
