Are you a scout?

Do I need to be a scout to have an opinion or a preference on draft prospects? For all the armchair GM'ing that happens on this board, I find it hilariously ironic that we suddenly need to be professionals to make comments about certain topics.

Newman was never going to get to us anyway.

Crazier things have happened. BA and MLB both have him at #29 on their lists.

NHL compensation is more whack. When Shea Weber signed an offer sheet with Philly. If Nashville declined to match. Philly would have gave Nashville four straight first round picks based on the size of deal and AAV.

You realize that Weber was a restricted free agent right? Not even remotely comparable.

Yay, remaining with the pitching heavy philosophy! Fun times ahead

I'd be fine with that. Jays have been one of the best teams at drafting pitching and that is the strength of the draft apparently, at least in the first few rounds.

I'm pumped! Its sorta nice that they hold it late in the day so I don't have to take a day off work, but I sort of miss that :P

I might have a game during the draft. If it keeps pouring like this though no chance. Really want to see the Jays' first pick.

I know it's an odd question, but are there any MLB or other major sports bloodlines in the top 200? Any brothers or sons to other professional athletes?

I think Mariano Rivera Jr. had a dad that played in the majors briefly. For one of the New York teams, I think.

I know you're young and all but don't you have a smart phone you could load the online stream while you're in the bench or something?

The lists mean literally nothing with regards to what will actually happen. If you've followed the last few weeks, he's jumped up with several teams ahead of us favouring safer college bats. Newman, a guy who has won the Cape Cod batting title two years in a row, is a near virtual lock to be gone before #29.

BA also has Nick Plummer 11th overall yet his real stock now appears to be in the 20-30 range.

BA Mock Draft 5.1:

http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mlb-mock-draft-2015-version-5-1/

29. Blue Jays: There isn’t as much separation on many boards between Nick Plummer, No. 11 on the BA500 after a great summer last year, and some of the other prep outfielders. Plummer’s stock is lower than the BA500 has it. North Carolina prep Eric Jenkins has impact speed and defense that is in some ways reminiscent of Dalton Pompey. If the Blue Jays go prep arm, they’ve been tied to Brady Singer of Eustis (Fla.) HS.

Selection: Eric Jenkins, of, West Columbus HS, Cerro Gordo, N.C.

I know the lists mean nothing at this point, but like I said, crazier things have happened. It wouldn't bother me if he went before 29, there's still a lot of intriguing bats that should be there.

Based on everything we've read though, it doesn't look like the Jays are going to be in on most of them anyway.

I think it's oddly fitting that the one guy MLBTR did a Q&A with is possibly my favorite prospect available in our range. Although I did cringe a bit when I read him comp himself to Ian Kinsler.

Yup pretty obvious on the restricted part. Its extremely compareable. Considering were talking about the same thing. No restricted free agents in baseball. Hell in Basketball unless you work out a sign and trade you get dick all.

it's not comparable at all. STFU.

Draft today. Picks 1-10 just think if you would've moved to the DR,Venezuela,or Japan you could be signing a major league deal for 50 mil!!

TIL JD doesn't understand how international bonuses work.

Scott Kingery is a slap hitting, no power guy with above average but not great speed. Not sure I understand the obsession.

sounds like the bad version of Melky

I am no scout, but man the more I read up on different players the more I want the Jays to draft them lol. Now I am hoping for Chris Betts.

If he hits .280 with 10HR and 20SB would that be terrible? Would be like a Daniel Murphy clone.

Kingery doesn't even have 10 HR power.

How many times have you seen Kingery play?
