R.I.P. Jose Reyes sucks at baseball thread

Holy f***!

 

Every game this guy finds ways to lose with his s***** defense, poor plate discipline and base running. How is it even possible to fail so much in a single game? This guy is magnetically drawn to losing.

 

Today's game summary:

- Flails away at bad 0-2 pitch (with the bases loaded!) and hits a lucky bloop single

- Throwing error costs Jays runs

- Almost throws another one in the dirt on next play

- Gets caught trying to stretch a single into a double

Inexcusable to throw two balls in the dirt in the same inning.

 

Trying to stretch a double on a ball he had no business trying it on. Oh yeah, he's the lead off hitter in a tie game in the seventh with your 2-3-4 due.

Reyes is a bum and always will be. The Marlins trade was awful at the time but it's amazing how it keeps getting worse by the year.

I am pretty sure Edwin got moved down a bit last year after a slow start as well. From my recollection it seemed to work.

 

And yes. Reyes is not a very good baseball player.

Reyes is not garbage. Defensively he's not the greatest, but he's the teams' sparkplug and I'll be honest with you...I can live with a few errors and him trying to stretch singles into doubles and being called out a few times. I don't care, I appreciate a guy willing to give a s***. It was a close play and the Jays need to put pressure on other teams' defenses once in awhile.

 

Edwin is struggling basically because he's trying to pull everything. When he's going right, he's hitting the ball all over the place with power. Get back to looking up the middle and to right field, you'll see the numbers go up. May a move to the 2 hole might work so he can see more fastballs with Jose and Donaldson behind him.

 

The thread should be titled...John Gibbons, when is this guy going to be fired? How many more one-run games will this team lose as a direct result of bad managerial decisions such as not running to stay out of double plays, not bunting enough, not stealing enough bases, bad times to pinch hit..bad pitching changes. Bad decisions on the mound such as a 3-1 count on Mauer...runner on 3rd 1 out...and you pitch to him? Put him on, pitch to Plouffe and get a ground ball to get out of the inning. Nope...Mauer slaps the ball through and the Twins end of tying the game shortly after. The Jays are now like what 3-12 in one-run games?

 

Its these decisions that kill the Jays year after year.

Reyes is being paid absurd money for what he brings to the table, but take a look at our outfield/bullpen and tell me he's the biggest problem on our team. Colabello alone today cost us 2 runs and made two basic errors in left field.

You know Reyes doesn't actually suck at baseball right? Sure he had a costly error but he was also a big reason why we were in the game to begin with. I'm not a fan of him at Shortstop. But he is far from the problem.

I think it will go down as one of AA's worst acquisitions. When he does something ok he doesn't wait for the next game to undo it he messes up usually the very next inning.

The top 6 in our order are not the problem. We have a coach who doesn't know how to using a bullpen. He puts players in positions they are not comfortable in.

 

AA is culpable as well. JR is not the issue.
