it's so refreshing for a player on the jays haunting their old teams. i'm so used to it happening to us

Almost! :P

I'm much happier with the result than I expected to be after the first. 8 great innings and 1 terrible inning is alright with this offence, apparently.

Yea well we don't have a lot of close games late. We either blow teams out or coming from behind.

We've had plenty of close games... just usually on the losing end of them so no save opportunity.

I know...but i shudder when I think about throwing a 20 year old kid into that roll when Cecil blew his first save opportunity of the year when the wind was blowing 25 miles an hour and the temperature was 3 degrees...stupid...A couple of Castro's blown saves might have been converted by cecil.

I feel like this team is actually playing very good ball lately. If our pitching can just stay average, we'll be ok.

Bluejays 23-27 and likely 2.5 games out of first place in the AL East after tonight. lol wat.

Thanks to the Italian guy. He'll play until the regression hits him

That's fine, as long as he keeps it up until EE & Bautista start mashing

That's some AA logic right there

How so? We're the league's only team who scoring greater than 5 runs / game on average... if our pitching keeps things to 4 or less per game we will win some games.

Yeah but our pitching is not going to get better.

Collabello now with an OPS over 1.000.Obviously babip driven and clearly unsustainable, but as long he keeps swinging the bat like this, I want him in the lineup every night.

To be fair, his Line drive % is very high, which explains SOME of his BABIP luck. He will probably end the year in the high 300's with BABIP if he keeps that up.

We all know he'll regress, but its nice to see a a fringe roster player come through and take advantage of the opportunity. He's been one of our best hitters this month and helped plug some offensive holes while the Jays battle injuries.

Looks like it took not using the bullpen to finally win a close game (besides the JD heroics on Tues).

Exactly.

For a power hitter his K% and BB% are fine.

There's no question the guy can be an above average bat.

Interestingly, he has better reverse splits so far in the majors.

Out of curiosity, also checking is MiLB splits:

2015 (95 PA)

vs. R - 1.266 OPS

vs. L - .468 OPS

2014 (238 PA)

vs. R - .736 OPS

vs. L - .932 OPS

2013 (391 PA)

vs. R - 1.072 OPS

vs. L - 1.049 OPS

This is not a guy that needs to platooned, does not give a s*** if it's a righty or lefty.

The Twins certainly gave him ample opportunity, not sure what happened to his bat then?

What I mean is that's the logic AA is using to not upgrade the starting pitching.

He got seriously hurt. Being his first time playing everyday he tried to play through it. Playing with pain caused him to pick up bad habits and then that eventually overwhelmed him to the point where he had to go on the dl. Probably came back with lingering issues and got stuck at AAA for the rest of the season.

Or at least that's my guess.

Clearly the dude can mash the fastball.
