Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 f*** Alex get off your fat ass and do something. The losses are mounting up and he's running out a team of Kawa, Goins, Valencia, Colabello, tolleson and thole on the roster. Amazing
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Colabello cost us the game. Jesus Christ.
Praxis Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I love the Jays, but I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I'm going to adopt Detroit as my second team. This is just ********.

EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Jays lose a low scoring game? By one? Shocker!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 So much for the clubhouse being better. Team can't win a close game...

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 So much for the clubhouse being better. Team can't win a close game... Who gives a f*** about the clubhouse, that has nothing to do with whats going on the field
Praxis Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 We need to see this team for what it is. Lack of depth combined with injuries and unwarranted trade gambles have reduced us to being one of the worst franchises in baseball. Blow up the FO, coaching staff and team while we can still get a good haul for some of our assets. A trade for one good pitcher would be asinine and grossly counterproductive in this situation.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 wat His s*** play in the OF earlier opened the door for the Mariners to score 2 runs.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 His s*** play in the OF earlier opened the door for the Mariners to score 2 runs. That should be on the lack of depth. It's like blaming a fish for dying after pulling it out of the sea. CC could probably be a better 1B than Smoak. Not having depth and Pompey up has cost the team games.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Yeah, doing something like resigning would be nice. Yeah that's all he can do. Does anyone really want him making moves at this point? He did great getting Donaldson and Travis, but Fatty knows his time is close to being up. No need to throw in another stupid move to add to the list of stupid moves he's already done in desperation.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Time to put Jose on the DL. Yet? His or clubs refusal to do so is killing us the most!

This game was given on a silver platter to the Mariners because of that play.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Jays will need to go 69-48 (.695) the rest of the way to reach 88 wins.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Rogers is not the problem. If the Jays stayed the course after 2012, they would have been fine right now with the influx of young talent. If Rogers forced them to spend money that off-season to build a winner, then sign free agents. Don't trade all your damn prospects for old players with free agent contracts. That's on stupid ass Alex, not ownership. Rogers can't be blamed for this mess. They didn't force the Miami/Dickey trade. They didn't force Gibbons coming back. They didn't force Pete Walker as pitching coach. When the GM does s***** things, expect s*** to happen.
Nabru Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Oh no Rogers sux we only have a $130m payroll The amount of money available is fine. You can build a 90+ win team with less. However, I don't trust Rogers given their history to hire the right people to put a good product on the field. They never have in the past so we have no reason to believe they will if they clean house after 2015 or whenever. Their reputation precedes them.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Kenny Williams next Blue Jays Prez.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Oh no Rogers sux we only have a $130m payroll That's not exactly fair to say though either. Yes, AA deserves most of the blame here, his roster management is awful regardless of what parameters Rogers may or may not put on him regarding said payroll. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. I find it questionable that the Jays have had two 50+ million dollar payroll spikes since they bought the team.

There weren't many realistic FA targets that offseason and I doubt FA are lining up to sign with Jays. Of course, no deal is better than a bad deal. However, in order to accept no moves, you would've had to be willing to be expected to tank in 2013 and 2014. Something that the Jays have been unwilling to do since the 80's. I do question those above AA's long term vision or lack there of when it came to the Marlins trade. It seems to me that in order to take on the salaries they did, they should've looked ahead at where payroll would be in 2014 and 2015 and to plan for the possibility of having to make further improvements to the team. On the other hand, maybe they tried to sign some FA and were told to f-off.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Another example of AA trying to sign FA was Santana last year. They had a deal, but Santana and his camp were probably praying for another team to match the Jays offer and got lucky with the Braves' sudden injuries and jumped on their offer.

The only prospects he traded were Zach Jackson (ranked 6th in Jays system by Sickels in 2005) and Gross (ranked 12th by Sickels in 2005). He traded Hudson for Glaus (Hill outperformed Hudson that year so it was a great trade), and Bush for Overbay (poor trade since Bush way outperformed Overbay). Regardless, JP did not trade his best prospects. Unfortunately JPR could not draft very well so his best prospects were middling anyway, but still. He could have traded Rios, McGowan, League, and some of the upside talent he inherited, but he didn't. AA went the exact opposite direction. He could have swallowed up Santana's contract like the Royals did ($13m) but chose not to. He could have signed Bartolo Colon who signed with Oakland for peanuts after his suspension. He could have done a lot of things that didn't involve gutting the farm. He didn't have to sign the best FA's out there, just load the team with vets that could improve short-term and then letting the youngsters put them over the top in the years following. JP as GM and AA's scouting team handling the farm system would have saved this organization. Unfortunately, the Jays couldn't combine the two aspects.

Many here thought Santana was crap. I don't think it's a coincidence that Colon's last 2 teams were the A's and Mets, 2 teams that play in pitchers' parks. I would definitely have preferred them signing FA than trading away prospects for expensive contracts. I just don't think it's as simple as some of you make it out to be. Even Halladay didn't want to stay after the 2009 season. Personally, I would've been fine with waiting for the farm to bear fruits as I just don't think the team was in a position to go for it after the 2012 season so I'm more concerned with long term organizational planning than anything else. This team's first choice for team Prez this past offseason was Kenny Williams...hey, at least he's won a WS.

I wouldn't be surprised if this org put AA in Beeston's position, which might not be a bad thing.
