I feel like Jeff Hoffman's upside is Aaron Harang.

Can anyone confirm this?

Same line of thought

I want a good K%, and a good GB%

As you can see the only thing he's been good at so far is not walking hitters. You'd expect a guy with his stuff to K more than 16% of the batters he faces though. Hopefully he shakes off the rust.

Hoffman never struck out many guys in College. Doesn't mean too much when guys stuff can change though. I wonder if guys just see the ball out of his hand well. The video of behind the plate seemed like there wasn't much deception in the delivery or anything.

Except that he struck out more than 30% of the batters he faced in his last (shortened) season. It's true that he didn't get many K's in his first two season.

If you guys are not happy we can always gift him to Baltimore. I hear they want to part their ways with their GM you know...

Kiley McDaniel just posted this from his pro start:

He throws across his body a lot. I wonder if they'll try and correct that like they did with Norris.

They corrected with Norris because he couldn't throw strikes...hasn't been a problem with Hoffman

^Chris King on Hoffman's first start.

Summary: Better than expected for a guy coming off Tommy John surgery.

I don't know if its a good thing Chris King is at FG now. With BP he used to always be in the Dunedin/Clearwater area so he would do a ton of Jays stuff. Hopefully that continues.

I think he's still with Perfect game, free-lancing for BP and other places

Kiley McDaniel said in his last chat that "one of our new writers will be writing up this start for tomorrow" in regards to Hoffman's start.

So maybe he's with Fangraphs full-time now, or at least a regular freelancer.

Rehabbing from injury right? It would suck to be a former MLB player and not even make it to AAA.
