This season is a wash. The SP is garbage.

What a waste of a great offense and good defense.

AL East is still anyones. I just don't think our pitching is good enough sans Stro. The notion that we just need to hold until miraculously everyone is healthy at the same time to make a push is folly.

The O's ran away with it last year without Machado and Wieters. Injuries are just part of the game.

So far we aren't getting it done on the mound and even with our offense its not going to be enough over a long season.

No one in the East has good pitching, and it could very well come down to who has the most consistent offence. Wait until the weather warms up and it gets really fun. I'm an optimist, but with a trade, we'll be fine. Speaking of which, JA HAPPY has been lights out.

Saunders has been lights out too...at the plate. I see the logic for both teams on that deal though and Happ is bound to have better numbers in that park. Hasn't worked out yet for us. Conversely, we expected Saunders to have better numbers in our park.

I just think Saunders is over-rated even before this off seasons injury. Not much above replacement level (best yr just over 2) and another chandelier, much like Lawrie, throughout his career.

lol someone on JaysTalk last night suggested batting Ryan Goins leadoff to get his bat on track

Maybe in A ball...."back on track"? It never has been on track.

that show is bizarre sometimes.

No one wants to give them credit but the Yankees do sport the best ERA in the AL let alone the East... It's not going to boil down to offense. It rarely, if ever boils down to offense. Wait for what weather to warm up? The Jays have played half their games in a climate controlled, enclosed dome.

Would anyone dispute that Pineda is the best pitcher in the division?

As it stands right now, O's are in no position to run away or contending in the East with Tillman and Norris being terrible, and the offense taking a huge step back. Rays will fade as injuries and lack of depth start to hurt the team (they were blown apart by the Yanks on Monday), and who knows about the Red Sox? As for the Yankees.. it depends on them staying healthy. At this point, the Yanks are the only real threat to run away in the AL East.

And as for the wild card, there is no way Minnesota will sustain its success with such questionable starting pitching and non-existent strikeout rates.. several of their pitchers are playing way over their heads (Gibson, Pelfrey), and of course, they have Nolasco being awful and Hughes regressing back to his Yankees performance.. and Detroit depends on health and getting anything out of their pen, as they lack depth.

Don't ask about the AL West.. it's basically Houston and four doormats.

Just a hair below Odorizzi and Chris Archer of the Rays, but considered the best by FIP. However, he's still a ways from being as good as King Felix or Dallas Keuchel.

When you made the comment I expected to have a couple of guys come to mind as being on his level, but there aren't any except for a healthy Tanaka. Crazy. This division has always housed some of the best starters in the game.

and what about the caller who insisted that Bautista shouldn't have pinch hit for Carrera because all the booing negatively affected Jose while Carrera would've hit a double off of Britton "guaranteed."
