With the amount of balls that the O's put in LF I would rather have Goins in RF and Pillar in LF. Pillar is the better fielder. If the O's I am just going to wait for something from Sanchez in the zone and just tee off to LF fly ball out or not.

Goins is the best choice defensively so I think Gibbons is just being prudent, Offense is good enough without Bautista anyway.

What Conundrum? Saunders is easily the way better player then Pillar. Pillar should get a spot start here and there vs a lefty in LF and the odd breather for Pompey. That's it.

Not worth the risk, with a weak shoulder he wouldn't hit well anyway.

Edit: Wait... Now that I think about it... Is that allowed? I know if you move a DH to the field, you lose the DH, but can you move a fielder to DH when you bring in a defensive replacement? I don't think I've ever seen it done, but I don't know if it's specifically forbidden...

Summary: Bautista had an existing shoulder problem, aggravated it and made it worse on the throw to first in his attempt to put out Delmon Young. It isn't just a "sore" shoulder, as an MRI revealed a strain. He's day-to-day right now, but Gibbons isn't ruling out a DL stint. He wasn't able to throw a baseball today.

This is the first I heard of an arm problem for Bautista. Hopefully it won't affect his arm down the line.
