LTR Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Why is this a thread... it's going to happen at least 25 times this year?
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I thought it was obvious he would get a start today, considering the schedule and 3 straight starts by Martin. No thread necessary.
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 MB does pretty well with Navarro. This will be fine. Excited for this game.
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 If Martin continues to catch Dickey, Navarro will be Buerhle's personal catcher until they cut him loose.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Indirect cost of not being able to move Navarro Had Navarro been moved Thole would have caught Dickey leaving Martin for Burly as well

Dunno how Gibby would handle that.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Thought he was better today than Martin looked in New York Martin looked great in the third game. it was only the Dickey game that Martin was bumbling around.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Navarro has significant value to the Blue Jays.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I mean I know Navarro and MB had success together and I'm not shocked hes starting especially how its going to be a day game after a night game on a travel day. But I would still like to see Martin catch him mote ofton than not. MB is all over the corners we need Martin's pitch framing for his starts. Buehrle did fine with Navarro last year.

I don't think they will cut him loose. Why would they? Is there a better catching tandem in baseball? Navero's one main assignment (MB), is a guy he works great with. There is simply no reason to give that up.

I like what Navarro brings to the team, particularly as a switchhitter. But if a good reliever can be had for Navarro, move him. Better yet, Navarro and couple of prospects like DSJ and Smoral for a SP, with Sanchez moving to BP or Buffalo. Thole is fine as a backup catcher. But cut loose, will not happen unless he shits the bed.
flafson Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) Even though it "worked out" it's pretty clear that Navarro cost MB quite a few strikes. Edited April 11, 2015 by flafson
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Thought he was better today than Martin looked in New York No, martin threw out 2 runs and his pitch framing was obvious.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Even though it "worked out" it's pretty clear the Navarro cost MB quite a few strikes. And dropped a super easy pop fly back when the game was sort of close...
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Navarro also helped the O's hit Buehrle around pretty good yesterday, but maybe he also helped him get lucky.
