Hey Yall.

I know a bunch of the forum regulars went to Montreal last year to see the Jays. Just looking for some tips. Is it worthwhile to fly porter for the weekend or is driving a better idea? I have April 3rd to 6th off for work. Where did you stay overnight? Where's the best place to buy tix? (most of the seats look sold out).

Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.

Also if anyone wants to meet up for a beer i would be game. You know...unless you're dogg.

Porter is a fantastic airline. The train is amazing though, especially if you can get a deal for business class (when I went like a month ago it was $15 more than standard or something). VIA and Porter are both great, no need to drive. Stubhub is probably best bet for tix. With hotels, though, I only know where *not* to stay, lol.

can't wait for Montreal to get a team (hopefully, eventually, the Rays) ... keep 'em in the A.L. East ... build up a nice rivalry ... the 'Spos come to T.O. for 3 series a year ... and we go there for 3 series ... Canadian road trippin' (or train trippin') and good times await no doubt.

It's about $360 per person for business class train seats (round trip). I think flying would be better. There's not really any deals for train seats since it's last minute and Easter weekend. I honestly don't mind driving but it looks like parking is a bitch cost wise.

megabus would be cheapest to get there prob around 125$ return and 5-6 hour trip. If you dont mind paying the extra 100$ or so via is nice.

I looked at greyhound and it was just way too long. I'll check out Megabus! Thanks!

during my McGill years, I enjoyed taking the train back 'n forth.

with the seat sale going on right now you can get some nice "Escape" rates. I always suggest taking Business Class on my way to a weekend away as you get the free booze and a comfy ass seat.

Edit. Just saw that it's Easter weekend...yeah you might be better off driving. Most Hotels will charge you $20 to $30 a night for parking in the downtown core.

I'm going with some friends to the game on Saturday April 4th. So I'll be there.

Sounds like a good time for a board meet-up!

Just drive brother, especially with the price of fuel! I just did a 26 hour road trip there and back from Northern US to Texas. Just use your savings to go out for a couple nice meals or upgrade your hotel.

Or beer.

don't need a hotel, bro, especially if you'll be there for just one night. if you'll be there for two nights, pull a girl from a bar and let her take ya home.

I drive whenever I go to Montreal. It's only takes me one tank of fuel each way. If you stay outside of the downtown area you can find plenty of hotels with free parking and then just take the subway to games, etc.
