skicross1 Verified Member Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Goins continues to play great defense .. Too bad about the bat
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Looked like last years Pillar at bat there.
bronson44 Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Barton can pick it. I could live with him getting most of the time at first platooning with Valencia. With the throwing issues from the left side of our infield he would save us some runs.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Watching the reboot. Holy s*** @ Martin's framing. That should've been a called third strike on Snider.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The slider has no depth whatsoever. Obviously a work in progress, but to me it looks closer to a 4-seam fastball than even a cutter.
jays76 Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The Pillar vs Pompey competition this spring has been great The Barton vs Smoak? not so much Lol
jays76 Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 If Smoak and Barton simply don't cut it would this not work better? I know it's not ideal obv, but if they simply are liabilities maybe a patchwork move if Navarro stays with the team. Righties: EE @ 1B Navarro DH Lefties: Valencia 1B EE DH If Navarro is hanging around that scenario plays well to get him enough action in conjunction with his backup catching starts. It's dependant on Martin catching Dickey of course and Edwin's back issues but I think that's a decent suggestion.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Heard Wilmer say on the radio that Sanchez 's line is misleading but he pitched very well.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Osuna's change is solid. Got silly looking whiffs from both Lough and Snider. Didn't notice any breaking balls. Seems to spot the fastball well too, pitches inside and on the hands consistently. FB might be a bit straight, but at least it has that downhill plane so it's not "flat". I like his tempo too. Definitely looks like a potential #3 to me. I would put his upside into the same bucket as Hutch's.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 As an amateur scout, I think Bo Schultz will be quite good as a pen arm.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I'm starting to feel a Barton/Valencia platoon. Would be nice to have a really good fielding 1B even if it's not everyday. It's been awhile since the Jays had someone like that.

He's thrown some nice breaking pitches in previous outings:

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Is Sanchez's arm action that violent? I'm wondering because from what I remember last year, it was cleaned up

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Ban. Why? I genuinely don't remember having read a previous article of theirs, so if it's a s*** blog then I apologize.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I know Hendriks is Australian, but all this time I didn't know he had the accent. Feels wierd. He should be playing cricket. He has.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 lol Hes had two swings & misses =p One vs schoop on slider, one vs parmlee on sinker He gets a crap load of groundballs when his sinker his low.. When he throws any offspeed pitch he is work in progress. When he throws offspeed vs LHB he is tossing underhand batting practice.. Cmon guys one pitch wont succeed in the majors Henderson has command/control, Sanchez does not have command/control currently. He had 4 full counts today, he could have easily walked 3-4. Please.........please diaff!!!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Sanchez is very close to having a dominant skillset. He'd be better in Buffalo but not gonna happen The 'bust' label some have thrown out is very premature

I found quite of few of their articles quite good, but I don't check the blog on a regular basis.
