While the Stroman story was a good one, the youngster learned and was not insulted, the lefty then tells of a player showing late for a game last year.

"I said to him: 'Dude, we've got a game to play, what time are you showing up?'"

And Buehrle said the player responded: "I play hard any time I'm in there ... I'll show any time I want to show up."

Uh, did he happen to play centre field?

"I'm not saying," said the crafty lefty going to his change-up.

hmmm

Yeah, this sounds like the fit of a vet on his way out and angry that he's not playing any day. Colby Rasmus doesn't like baseball.

Now I'm stuck between Lind and RAsmus

This would very out of character for Lind IMO

1. It was obviously Colby Rasmus

2. We already know that Colby got benched for showing up late last season. I think it was in Houston.

Casey Janssen is a dark horse IMO. There are rumblings about him.

Buehrle supposedly manages the pitchers too. Bautista leads the hitters and would have addressed Colby.

Pitchers talking about 'playing hard' is silly.

The more quizzical quotation from the article is this:

----------------------

Buehrle, for one, has been impressed with Martin's work ethic so far.

"I don't think anyone works harder," he said. "He's always in the weight room, always kicking around a soccer ball with Dioner Navarro, for cardio work, always doing something."

--------------------------------

No one working harder ... and doing cardio with Dioner Navarro.

Two things that don't go together.

What are the other guys doing for cardio? Sleeping? Injecting butter into their veins?

Well we know Adam Lind was working out 15 minutes a day...

You could imagine a closer believing he could show up near game-time though. And Buehrle used the word 'play' in his question... maybe responding with 'play hard' was natural even if the player was a pitcher. Idk.

I know they do it, it's just a pet peeve of mine. I don't think anyone is throwing half-assed out there.

I kind of take offense to the people suggesting Lawrie. Maybe he was douchey, maybe he was hyped up on Red Bull all the time, but this is someone that clearly loves baseball. A lot of his injuries came from playing like a maniac on the field, he's a very passionate player.

+ he cares so much about fitting in and being a bro that he would never talk back to Dad

This is obviously Gose. Idk how people can think anyone else. Dude was a total doucher, AA had a boner for him and then all of a sudden trades him away.

Martin kicks the ball while Navarro sits and watches. That's the only plausible scenario.

I'm going to miss Buehrle after this season.

Yeah, it's going to be a sad day when he signs somewhere else.

Navarro plays goalie.
