HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Who do you think said that? http://www.torontosun.com/2015/03/08/blue-jays-pitcher-mark-buehrle-a-clubhouse-leader
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It sounded like some generic ******** Lawrie would've said and would be 100% accurate
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 While the Stroman story was a good one, the youngster learned and was not insulted, the lefty then tells of a player showing late for a game last year. "I said to him: 'Dude, we've got a game to play, what time are you showing up?'" And Buehrle said the player responded: "I play hard any time I'm in there ... I'll show any time I want to show up." Uh, did he happen to play centre field? "I'm not saying," said the crafty lefty going to his change-up. hmmm
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Has to be a vet to talk to MB that way.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 #PapaBuehrle Mark Buerhle, what do I win? Re-read the question!
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Big Daddy remake staring Mark Buehlre
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Has to be the 28 year old who just said that he's close to retirement.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Yeah, this sounds like the fit of a vet on his way out and angry that he's not playing any day. Colby Rasmus doesn't like baseball.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 s***, aren't we glad AA didn't sign that guy to an extension after 2013.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 Now I'm stuck between Lind and RAsmus
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Now I'm stuck between Lind and RAsmus Are we sure Lind's mom didn't relay this quote for him?
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Now I'm stuck between Lind and RAsmus This would very out of character for Lind IMO
43211234 Verified Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 1. It was obviously Colby Rasmus 2. We already know that Colby got benched for showing up late last season. I think it was in Houston.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Casey Janssen is a dark horse IMO. There are rumblings about him. Buehrle supposedly manages the pitchers too. Bautista leads the hitters and would have addressed Colby.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The more quizzical quotation from the article is this: ---------------------- Buehrle, for one, has been impressed with Martin's work ethic so far. "I don't think anyone works harder," he said. "He's always in the weight room, always kicking around a soccer ball with Dioner Navarro, for cardio work, always doing something." -------------------------------- No one working harder ... and doing cardio with Dioner Navarro. Two things that don't go together. What are the other guys doing for cardio? Sleeping? Injecting butter into their veins? Well we know Adam Lind was working out 15 minutes a day...
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Pitchers talking about 'playing hard' is silly. You could imagine a closer believing he could show up near game-time though. And Buehrle used the word 'play' in his question... maybe responding with 'play hard' was natural even if the player was a pitcher. Idk.

I don't think anyone is throwing half-assed out there.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Brad Glenn lol, would have required balls of titanium
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I kind of take offense to the people suggesting Lawrie. Maybe he was douchey, maybe he was hyped up on Red Bull all the time, but this is someone that clearly loves baseball. A lot of his injuries came from playing like a maniac on the field, he's a very passionate player.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 This is obviously Gose. Idk how people can think anyone else. Dude was a total doucher, AA had a boner for him and then all of a sudden trades him away.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I'm going to miss Buehrle after this season.

That's the only plausible scenario.
