TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) For the idiots that are complaining that the Blue Jays had a bad offseason, the Jays are credited with four of the 20 best moves of the winter. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-best-transactions-of-the-2015-off-season/ Edited February 12, 2015 by TwistedLogic

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Not a huge fan of the Miley trade. It wasn't bad by any means but I have a hard time believing it is in the top 5 transcations.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Not that I disagree with the list but out of all the Fangraphs writers, getting praise from Cameron is kind of like getting the legacy fat chick from the best sorority on campus.

Probably the first time in history that FanGraphs has been likened to "the best sorority on campus". Nearly everyone who writes for fangraphs is the equivalent of the legacy fat chick, except she probably still has acne. The Dodgers have 5 of the top 20, 4 of the Top 10, and the Top 3 moves. Check....and mate. http://www.quickmeme.com/img/a5/a5c0bdda0d9adb4c98955af7b089aaf43f6b0ab358d1428e19a45e5468455fa0.jpg

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I'd agree. I doubt he will be significant. well if RJF, JF2014 and Boxy all don't like it...the Red Sox may as well not even play the season.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 What's with the Miley hate? Should be a solid league average starter that they can rely on for 200 innings.

I just love Wade Miley. Such a sturdy guy to have and he still has some upside. Good job by the Red Sox to get four affordable years of him.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Yeah. He'll likely do similar things to what Buehrle has done here, and frankly Buehrle has been a godsend. For 2015 season Stroman > Miley > others Jays SP Lefty, young, cheap, 200 IP, solid K:BB rate, and +50% GB rate
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 For 2015 season Stroman > Miley > others Jays SP Lefty, young, cheap, 200 IP, solid K:BB rate, and +50% GB rate Better then Hutch?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Better then Hutch? I'd say Miley=Hutch. Next season? - Yes, but Hutchison ceiling (Plus FB and plus Slider?)
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I'd take Miley, but only because I trust him more to actually throw 200 innings.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I think Hutch throws 200 innings next year with a K/9 over 8. While Miley gets groundballs, Hutch is better in every other facet
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I think Miley is fine, but that transaction over the Donaldson one (I know, it's just one opinion) is dumb. I'll take the MVP candidate over the innings eater, thank you.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I don't think anybody hasn't approved of the moves made this offseason in what we did or got! But what management openly stated as problems at the end of the season were ignored! Mostly! That and the fact they seemed to be pushing the cart to the top of the mountain and stalled! Sometimes you need to push the f***er over the top leaving less to hope and chance! There is no try, just "f***ing" do! There's Winners and the rest are just losers! Second place or silver just means you are the first loser up! f*** we ain't playing for participation ribbons here, this s*** is real and for keeps!

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Personally, I see Miley as the type of pitcher that Bautista, Edwin and Donaldson are going to have a field day with.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I think Miley is fine, but that transaction over the Donaldson one (I know, it's just one opinion) is dumb. I'll take the MVP candidate over the innings eater, thank you. Jays also gave up a lot more. So I can see why that argument can be made. Still, trying to rank one trade over the other in a vacuum is kind of pointless. Each team needs to take into consideration its own circumstances. Even though the Travis/Gose trade was listed as a win for the Jays, from Detroit's perspective it made sense since they need that OF defense. For the Jays I'd rather have them acquire Donaldson for the package they gave up instead of Wiley for two pitching prospects. If they managed to do both, that would have been cool too.
