Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Jerry Crasnick Very sad news: Pitcher Lincoln Holdzkom, a member of New Zealand national baseball team, has died in a car accident in US. RIP.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 @JeffPassan Source: Dodgers, White Sox nearing a trade. Top pitching prospect Frankie Montas is going to Los Angeles, so it could be pretty big. Ethier?

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Puig. That's intriguing... Maybe Puig would benefit from being on the same team as Abreu but I can't see the ChiSox putting together much of a package.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Montas and Quintana for Puig?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Montas and Quintana for Puig? Montas for Ethier + a truck full of money?
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Montas for Ethier + a truck full of money? They either pay it to whoever takes Ethier or Major League Baseball.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Ken Rosenthal Source: Frazier from #Reds to #WhiteSox. Three-team deal with #Dodgers apparently.
Nabru Verified Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 @JeffPassan Source: Yasiel Puig is NOT going to Chicago in the trade between the Dodgers and White Sox.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So Frazier to CWS, Montas to LA... CWS has to be giving up a lot more.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 To Dodgers: Montas, Trayce Thompson, Micah Johnson To Reds: Jose Peraza, Scott Schebler, Brandon Dixon To Sox: Frazier

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Pretty awful return for Frazier.

Laika Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 To Dodgers: Montas, Trayce Thompson, Micah Johnson To Reds: Jose Peraza, Scott Schebler, Brandon Dixon To Sox: Frazier It seems like the Dodgers preferred Montas to Peraza, and the Reds likes Peraza more than Montas. Kind of interesting.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Pretty awful return for Frazier. Yeah it looks like garbage. They must love Peraza. BP is on his way out of CIN now, obviously.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Lawrie as full time 2B will be interesting
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Yeah it looks like garbage. They must love Peraza. BP is on his way out of CIN now, obviously. I know its impossible and a bad idea but..Votto ;[
Cyborg Verified Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So why are the Dodgers in this trade? So they can upgrade some prospects?
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So why are the Dodgers in this trade? So they can upgrade some prospects? My read on it is that they are just down on Peraza and think Montas is more valuable. I'm ignoring the other four prospects
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So why are the Dodgers in this trade? So they can upgrade some prospects? Reds wanted Peraza Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 4m4 minutes ago reds love peraza. he was part of the chapman deal that was called off.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Lawrie as full time 2B will be interesting Wasn't he playing 2B every day after Oakland acquired Valencia?
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Micah Johnson, Frankie Montas and Trayce Thompson will all make fine AAA depth for the Dodgers next season
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So why are the Dodgers in this trade? So they can upgrade some prospects? Zaidi just sits in on every GM call.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 6m6 minutes ago #Dodgers preferred package they acquired to two years of Frazier. Continue to amass young talent.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 White Sox got much better with Todd Frazier.. that Central division is going to be a dogfight. Royals better have enjoyed their World Series win.. they may not get back there due to the parity of the AL Central. All 5 teams should be in contention. Dodgers get a 2B in case Utley is awful in 2016, and Enrique "Kiki" Hernandez regresses.. and he's good with the glove. Plus, Thompson gives the Dodgers insurance in case Pederson or Puig struggle. And Montas gives them more depth in the minors, and gets the Dodgers closer to their goal of a cost-controlled young team that doesn't require $200M+ payroll to succeed, which has been the plan, as they try to get under the tax.. spending in recent years was only temporary until their young talent arrives. As for the Reds.. 100 losses for sure. Lots of rotation/bullpen questions, lineup questions outside of Votto (if he isn't dealt next), and Chapman likely to be suspended.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Twitter is also speculating that the Dodgers' swap is part of a bigger push for Jose Fernandez. Maybe Miami is on on this and was pointing out some dudes from the White Sox that they coveted.

I think Brandon Phillips is dealt in short order, however.
