The only thing Boston worries me is their offense. It can get better.

Yeah, pretty much, and their offense has a lot of potential... ours will always be better, but our pitching...

f*** man, I'm worried about Boston.

Ive always been worried about them in 2nd half. Playing beneath themselves in the 1st half. they are right there now too and they have to $ to add salary if need be.

This isn't like the year they had Nutjob Valentine managing them and they dumped to LAD.

Jays have to beat teams in the East or sayanora.

Yes, September's going to be pretty big.

We have to continue to stay there now to have it matter.

BTW - read one of your posts where you mentioned "ignore" feature...after a yr on board I finally figured it out. What a diff it makes to weed out some of the noise. unreal.

Jays are 7-5 against Baltimore, 7-6 against Boston, 4-2 against New York, and 3-7 against Tampa.

Other than Tampa, they've held their ground against the others. Unfortunately, the Jays have played .500 against everyone else too.

If the Jays could play meaningful games in September, I'd be stoked.

would that not be seriously awesome. I don't know how we have all maintained obsessed fan status so long with the drought as it is. Yesterdays game was really exciting and its July lol.

Game before we are all spewing venom and eating our young and last night high 5s. Alomar's HR off Eck- Timlin to Carter 92 - the walk off 93 amongst many others are all indelible memories.

whatever way you slice it, it'll all come down to the last road trip of the season with 4 in Baltimore and 3 against TB (hopefully Tampa will be out of it by then.)

Not necessarily, we might be totally out of it by then.

After over 20 years, you should know by now that the Jays would be lucky if those games even meant anything.

and this year's squad gives a f*** about Blue Jays teams of the past?

O's swept by the Twins, 1-5 on their road trip. Perfect for the Jays. :)

Now we just have to beat Danks. As for the O's, a 2nd half surge seems less likely this year.. and their sked is tough after the break, and of course they can't expect to feast on Boston, as they've played most of their games against them, and have mediocre numbers in the AL East outside of Boston..

Me too. That's all I want. But weren't the Jays still in it until September 19th last year?

Cardinals Designate Aledmys Diaz For Assignment

The Cardinals have designated infielder Aledmys Diaz for assignment, MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch reports on Twitter. A 40-man spot was needed for the promotion of veteran first baseman Dan Johnson.

Per Langosch, St. Louis hopes that Diaz will clear waivers given that he’s still owed a significant amount of salary. The Cardinals signed Diaz as an amateur free agent in March of last year, guaranteeing him four years and $8MM.

Mathematically sure, but in reality they were out the 3rd week in August or earlier, IIRC.

Chin-hui Tsao returns to the majors for the first time in 8 years. Pretty much shows the lack of depth the Dodgers have in pitching:

Hurt or traded? Kazmir left the Yankees game:

Apparently left triceps tightness.

Posted

Not that it makes a ton of sense to trade your guys before the All-Star break, but if Kazmir is legitimately hurt, this would mark the second year in a row where a GM hung onto a pitcher for too long. Last year, it was Cliff Lee.

Cueto could be in a similar boat, with his elbow being somewhat of a concern.

I just hope that if this FO finally acquires a notable arm before the deadline, it isn't one of these guys that are about to fall apart.

The A's are still in the race though, pretty much every team is. I'm pretty sure the Jays will end up doing something big. There's just so much pressure on this team to succeed and it's a legitimately good squad.

Pretty much every team is in the race, but the A's are less in the race than most teams. Especially if Kazmir goes down.

Anthopoulos all-but guaranteed that he's going to make a move on his interview with Tim & Sid yesterday. They can't not do anything this year.
