baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The lightning have a really good fan base? Top 10 in attendance the last 3 years. Miami is the much worse pro sports city. Marlins have a brand new stadium and barely got 20 000 fans last year. Panthers get no fans either. Heat are really the only team that gets good support and that probably has more to do with the Lebron effect than anything. Now that he is gone theres lots of empty seats even though games are technically "sold out" lol the Marlins don't have fans in their stadium because their owners a douche.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 lol the Marlins don't have fans in their stadium because their owners a douche. It might be a factor but its not a significant one. For the most part fans here hate Rogers but it really doesn't have much of an effect on attendance. The Marlins have never really drawn fans.

I think it kinda turns into a significant one when ownership constantly dicks you around and make's promises they don't keep and end up trading your star's constantly. For as bad as some people make it seem Rogers has been pretty damn good to us especially these past couple of years.

At the same time, new stadiums usually guarantee sellouts for a few years which is not the case in Miami. Even before Loria though the Marlins never had great fan support. The Miami pro sports market is just bad in general. Tbh I don't blame them too much because there is so much other stuff to do besides pro sporting events. I'm not so sure about Rogers/Jays though. Rogers claimed money would be there if the jays were competitive in 2014 and that didn't happen. Then they decreased payroll at the beginning of last season and after record revenues this year payroll hasn't gone up at the same rate revenue has.

That's like comparing a Hilton Hotel to a motel invested with bed bugs.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 So Lawrie for 1 minor league reliever and an A ball starter who looks interesting but extremely far away. Bean has looked awful this last year.

Bean has looked awful this last year. Have to say when the Jays traded him away for JD, I was somewhat scared that he would turn into a beast, but a year later it looks like he is going to be no more than an average MLB player. AA got that trade right, for sure.
