Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Sounds like you and I have been in a lot worse than that little tizzy. Puig is a monster. If he really wanted to do some damage pity help the fool. lol... yup, just a dust up. Good on them for not wasting money and time on a few punches, mind you, I wouldn't want to be on the other end of them punches...
admin Site Manager Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 What do you guys think Samardzija is gonna get? Could be a good buy low.

Could be a good buy low. http://saberresource.com/games/fapcontest/scoreboard/ Some people have him getting a 1 year deal around 20 mil. One guy has 6/132 lol. Seems like most say somewhere around 4-5 years and 65-85 mil.
admin Site Manager Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Shark suxxxxxx, and he'll likely get too much. Interesting to see if he bounces back. Velocity is still there. Five year $80-$85M?

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Shark and Zimmerman cost a first rounder as well guys.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Would you take Happ at three years $36 ($12per) or Shark five years $80M ($16per). Shark in a heartbeat at that price. I think backloaded we can still make that deal.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Shark suxxxxxx, and he'll likely get too much. Does he suck? He had one bad year with the worst defense in the MLB playing behind him. Projections look similar to Zimmerman whatever that's worth.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Shark and Zimmerman cost a first rounder as well guys. Woah... didn't even take that into consideration.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Would you take Happ at three years $36 ($12per) or Shark five years $80M ($16per). Happ. Far less commitment for a similar class pitcher, especially if we buy into the massive decline Shark took last season (in K/9, FIP, xFIP, etc). I'll take 3 years of 2012-2014 Happ with the chance that he did figure something out in Pittsburgh, over inconsistent Shark for 5 years.
flafson Verified Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Wonder how Zimmermann will fare in the AL.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Zimmerman signed for 5-years, $110M. That's actually a reasonable contract. Will Price really get twice as much as this? Price is loved, effective, and we don't lose a draft pick. I hope he is still in play for the Jays.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Wonder how Zimmermann will fare in the AL. It would be far from shocking if a guy like Happ outperformed him. Those types of pitchers haven't fared well historically when it comes to league switches.

Those types of pitchers haven't fared well historically when it comes to league switches. I don't think it will even be close. Zimmerman will do just fine in Detroit. Happ is a #4 pitcher and he could easily go back to his career avg numbers. Zimmerman has been dominant the last 5 years, not just in 60 innings that Blue Jays fans are focusing Happ's numbers on.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 You picked 1/19 I'm talking about Zimmermann, meat. Yeah, Shark will take a year out west.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Yep nice deal for the Tigers, 5 years and a reasonable amount for a top of the rotation starter. I think it's terrible for them. That money might have been better spent on an Alex Gordon and maybe a Span.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Projected fWAR: Zimmermann = 2.8 Happ = 2.0

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Key word. I'll take the over on Zimmerman. I think 2.8 is pretty reasonable considering he's typically in the 3-3.5 range and is entering his age-30 season. Error bars are bigger on Happ, but I'm happier with a 3/36 commitment to him than a 5/110 to Zimmermann. There's also the lost first round pick.
