Bautista (should be moved to 1B/DH)

Pillar

Revere

Pompey

Saunders (not sure what to expect)

 

Spend assets on a pitcher & sign Hayward instead please.

 

What happened? I saw the freakout as I was tuning in, but didn't have any context.

 

No idea lol. Probably something along the lines of "f*** this. f*** you. f*** that". But I could be wrong.

I bet AA trades for Puig this offseason.

 

I don't know, it seems AA doesn't look for bargains by taking on high potential poor attitude players anymore, self-admittedly. That said, I think he would thrive in the AL East in our lineup. Would we put him in Left?

 

Also, what would it cost to get him, given his poor year and impaired perceived value?

 

If we still had Pillar, Revere, and Pompey left, than we'd have some serious trade chips to try and go after getting someone like Carraso, Martinez, or Ross.

I was watching the game highlights later on the former The Score, and apparently he had one call (strike that was off the plate) go against him in the AB in which he ended up flying out on. Then, when Grandal walked on a similar pitch, he yelled some s*** at the ump, maybe Mattingly was like "dude wtf are you doing this is good for us" and Ethier just lost his s***.

You're ridiculous, if LA could get Stroman for Puig they do that in heartbeat.

 

LA could definitely get a pitcher on Stroman's level for Puig. The popular deadline rumour was Puig for Harvey.

 

I'm interested in seeing what you think a Toronto offer for Puig would look like.

It's really hard for me to see them getting full value for Puig at this point. If Puig didn't have all these clubhouse problems then maybe, but there is a lot of risk with him.

Maybe. To clarify, my comment wasn't that Toronto would or should trade Stroman for him, it was that it's difficult to conceive of a deal that didn't include Stroman. LA would be looking for a long-term asset at SP or possibly 2B or OF, and turning a dime into two nickels doesn't really appeal to a team like that.

Yep, but that team has a ton of pressure to win, if they feel Puig is hampering them somehow, they will move him for less then his perceived value.

I'd be surprised if it came to that. Say what you want about the strategy, but Friedman employed all manner of human garbage while running TB. Selling Puig for pennies on the dollar because of perceived character issues would be a strong departure from his MO. I'd go so far as to say the Dodgers are the last team I'd expect to make a move like that.

 

If anything, I think Puig might not be as good as his performance so far, and his character issues have hurt LA's ability to sell high.

LA is a different market then TB is or was. Friedman has money and is expected to deliver a winner. Whereas in TB Friedman was just collecting value to be competitive with their payroll. Same thing with Farhan in OAK, it's a different pressure.

I never got the impression that employing guys like Aybar and Lueke was a desperate concession made to help deal with the challenges of a low payroll. If you value character at all, those two weren't talented enough to be worth any kind of risk. I really think Friemdan just doesn't give it much regard at all.
