That Victorino trade is interesting if he's healthy that's a nice add for the angels.

I've always liked the Flyin Hawaiian though his baseball career is almost over.

Rutledge is probably not even a major leaguer, what are the Sox doing?

Basically dumping a player so that Castillo can play regularly so that the Sox can evaluate whether they made a good investment on him. Rutledge likely either goes to Pawtucket or to replace Weeks on the 25-man.

Exhibit A of why the media should refrain from being such ****s all the time:

Tweet Astros made in 2014:

One of many hot takes at the time:

Reds down 4-1 in the 5th with 1 out and Billy Hamilton on first, and Votto bunts him to 2nd.

A-Rod with another home run. I get the possibility a great hitter can come back and do well even at his age, but THIS well? You have to wonder if he's found some new

designer help.

And his Yanks are running away with the ENTIRE AL East. Best chance for the Rays, O's and Jays is the wild card. Seriously, can anyone stop these Yanks?

We can, and we will when we play those scumbags

7 games back with 2 months to go... doesn't look too good unless AA pulls a miracle trade to upgrade our starting pitching and bullpen.

3 and 5 out of wild cards. Still attainable..

Or the team stops making stupid mistakes in close games.

In all honesty, this team is 2 games ahead of the White Sox who are supposed to be awful with 4 more games played. If I was the owner, I'd get a consultant and review every move proposed by this F/O.

Anyway...

Anyone else get the feeling that the only move we'll make is to acquire Brandon Lyon?

Brandon Lyon is out of baseball. Unless you mean the equivalent..

"The division is wide open"

"There are no really good teams in the division"

"No team is running away with the division"

Meanwhile the Yankees have the 2nd best record in the AL, have a fully healthy team, and show no signs of slowing.

It's the same thing every year. People look at the standings in May/June/July when they should just be focusing on the team's record. It doesn't matter that the team is only 3 games out on June 23rd, because this division is five big boy teams (well, four and Toronto) and one of them is going to win 90 or damn close to it.

I know it's just in the reference to the year that all we did was acquire him

I feel like you dont pay attention to Jaysfan2014's posts. What part of Jays should be buyers, and Orioles/Tigers/Every other .500 team is doomed dont you understand.

The Orioles, who "should be sellers", are now .500.

Tied with the Blue Jays, who should "go for it" by trading prospects for vets.

Orioles and Rays aren't really doomed, but need to make a run. Tigers are definitely DOA. Of course, the 2nd wild card is going to come through Minnesota, who all of the AL East contenders, and the Yankees, have to play. (BAL and TB still have games with Houston, as does Minnesota) And of course, the Astros have their own division to worry about.. keep an eye on that LA/HOU series this week. It'll be a huge test to see if the Astros will be able to stay in contention until October. Even with Kazmir, they're not a sure thing. They still need another bat and a pitcher.

Yanks win again tonight. But, but... the media keeps telling us that this is a "weak" division, right?

It was. Yankees just took off, but they do it a lot.

I think its unlucky that the Jays just havent taken off once in the last 22 years. You think we would have gotten lucky at least once.

Yeah... that's what I keep hearing and it's annoying as f***.

Except the Jays still control most of their offensive core thru 2016(need to get another pitcher, even with Stroman returning).. O's do not have that luxury, with Davis, Chen, O'Day, Pearce, Hunter, Norris and Wieters hitting free agency. That's why the O's need to think about selling.

The Blue Jays are the favourites to win the second wild card.

I was only talking about our division. This has nothing to do with anything in my post.

And what does "no signs of slowing" even mean? Teams don't start losing until they start losing. They could very easily drop their next five games; that's baseball. Recent performance from a team is completely meaningless.

It's just an expression, no need to get all righteous. Also, it's not completely meaningless... as with any baseball stat it's more relevant the larger the sample.
