From what I could see on television, it was hot as Hades at the game yesterday. Maybe that's the simple reason for so many day offs?

Donaldson- Played every game this season, needs an off day

Martin-Catching Dickey tomorrow, needs an off day

Smoak-Was absolutely awful yesterday

Otherwise, I have no idea.

All the above plus really long, hot as balls game yesterday seems like enough rationale.

I don't understand why Martin is getting so many f***ing days off and nary an AB at DH.

And for f***'s sake, can we just admit that Dioner Navarro is a s***** hitter and drop him in the lineup? Under no circumstances should he be batting ahead of Colabello or Valencia at this point.

Yeah but in the immortal words of Alex Rios, who giffs a fawk? The expected value of a single lineup card is microscopic.

Sent you a link via PM if you want to play on FD tonight.

Done. By the way, the last time we played was one of my worst games ever... rofl.

I have two line-ups tonight as I was on the fence about the SP... so hopefully the line-up I'm using prevails.

Well...hopefully my luck against you keeps going.

Goodluck though.

Define: so many f***ing days off

Martin has the 2nd most PA by a catcher in the AL and he works his balls off more than any player on this team.

^ he can't swing the bat 4 times ?

You squat on your knees 9 innings / game all year and when you get a day off your body probably don't feel like running.

You ever think the whole All Star game voting 'scandal' is just viral marketing to get more people to vote and to generate interest in an otherwise boring, out-dated event? MLB could release whatever numbers they want, after all. But now everyone huddles around the scuttlebutt, gossiping and full of outrage, emotionally invested in the results and the player's reactions. Viral marketing. Easy as a pot of piss.

Everything you write comes off sarcastic but I think that was a compliment so thanks for that.

So assuming you're serious here, what's the idea? Plot BABIP along the z axis?

Not being sarcastic here. I think it's a great thought (made even greater by the simplicity - the "why didn't I think of that" factor).

I'm not really sure what could be done with the data, but I'm sure quite a bit. For instance, if certain batters are only productive when hitting the ball way out front, a team could throw more offspeed pitches. If the data showed that one of your struggling hitters had a very deep average contact point, then the coaches could work on getting them started earlier.

It's just new information. The nerds could figure out what to do with it.

Looks like you're going to need 3 grand slams from Mike Trout in the next 3 innings to catch up... good luck! :)

Almost feel sorry for the M's... that offense has been brutal... Cano with his third(!) HR of the year though.

I will throw up if I have to watch like 7/9 players on the Kansas City Royals start the ASG. Just absurd. How the f*** is Omar Infante leading in votes at second base?

I honestly want the ASG to be the Royals v/ the Cardinals. It will just highlight how f***ing stupid the process is and possibly instigate some changes.

It is too easy to cheat with online ballots. They should go back to the old method of ballots at the games. If not, game ballots should be weighted 100-1 vs. their online counterparts or something.
