Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Red Sox and Porcello signed extension Jay Jaffe 4/$82.5 million for Porcello is not a gamble I'd make on a pitcher with 5.5 K/9 career. WTF? I could maybe see 15M per, but ... yikes.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Don't forget Asher! It took me like half a second to recognize that voice lol. I miss Ashbey lol

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm calling it: Dallas Keuchel has the best facial hair in baseball. It was good last year, but it's on another level right now. I've been thinking the same thing all game long.

For Porcello?? The sox go back to overpaying as usual. I'm calling it: Dallas Keuchel has the best facial hair in baseball. It was good last year, but it's on another level right now. Keuchel's beard is majestic... and so is Colby's hair!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Asher Wojchiechowski... Oh yeah lol. Isn't he in AAA? Or did he make the team this year?
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Oh yeah lol. Isn't he in AAA? Or did he make the team this year? He made the team I believe. But yeah, Ashby too!
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Considering what Kluber and Yordano Ventura just got, that's very expensive. That seems like too much for sure. The Red Sox are just flat out sold on him I guess, trading for him and now going all out extending him before he even pitches. In a year or two we could look back and say they got a good deal, but I really doubt it.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 The "Wobble Wag Giggle Ball" ???? That has to be the most ridiculous commercial I've seen in a LONG time, and that's saying something since it seems to be an actual product.

The 5-hour energy commercial is the worst for me at the moment.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Meh. Boston is betting on a 27-year old with no history of arm trouble and a ~3.5 xFIP over the last three years. Their analytics guys obviously believe he's a 3.5 ERA guy they can count on for 30 starts a year. If he pitches to his peripherals again this year there's no way you get him for 4/80.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Oh yeah lol. Isn't he in AAA? Or did he make the team this year? Made the rotation.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Yan Gomes just got Kluber a strikeout.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Porcello gets a limited no-trade too.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I realize I am late to the party, but WTF on giving Porcello 82.5 million over 4? They could have offered that at the end of this season, and short of him winning the CY he would have accepted that, no? JESUS. Good news for us I guess. I think that while they are paying him to be elite, he'll be far from it for Boston. I'm pretty sure Kluber is getting less, even if he hits all his performance incentives in his contract, and Kluber actually won the CY Young award. With the partial no trade, who ever the agent is for him should be commended lol On another note, man Colby in CF always looked really good... only if he gave a s*** about Baseball. His eye improved at the plate too, walked a bunch in ST IIRC and walked today

The two situations aren't comparable.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Of course Altuve breaks up the no-no.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 An Altuve SB and a single later, the Astros take the lead 1-0, all with two out.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Keuchel made two plays on grounders to get out of a jam! Would be a good start for the Stros if they can hold on to this lead
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Keuchel made two plays on grounders to get out of a jam! Would be a good start for the Stros if they can hold on to this lead Keuchel's GB rate for the game is like 85% lol. Probably Neshek then Gregerson for the win?
Praxis Verified Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 On a terrible day for the Brew Crew, Lind got 3 for 4.

It breaks when a dog wrecks it and risks injuring them.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Yes he would have. He is easily projectable for 10 WAR over the course of this contract. The Red Sox don't care about his past ERA, nor should they. Perception of Porcello is going to change a lot this year.

The Red Sox don't care about his past ERA, nor should they. The worry for me easily is his K/9. I don't trust starters who don't strike guys out a lot with a big contract. That's just me though
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Drabek's line: 1.1IP, 6H, 2ER, 1K, 1 HR(Rios). Expect him to be DFAd once the White Sox get Sale and/or Petricka back. Drabek shouldn't be pitching on any MLB club, and I think AA knew it when Hynes, Castro and Osuna made the team over him.
