I wish. Thole would walk to Montreal if he could get back in the big leagues.

Oh yeah, one can wish. I'm not too low on Navarro if they're committed to Martin catching Dickey though. But if they can free up some space to work out a Papelbon deal or even a contract with Soriano you'd have to think that would be considered.

WAY too nice to be Bender.

I can see him pulling off a baby bender.

Dbacks trade Cahill and some cash to the Braves. Freeing up payroll for Navarro?

Yeah, they just saved $12M. Stewart did say that they didn't have enough cash to trade for Navarro (

) so this certainly allows him to take on the contract.

Common AA, you can get Evan Marshall! I believe in you!

Not sure if this is helpful but you could also do the reverse and add BsR to wOBA to include base running (for a non park adjusted offensive stat), quite simply:

BsR/PA*wOBAScale + wOBA

Billy Hamilton: 7.6/611*1.304+.287 = .303

Dioner Navarro: -3.6/520*1.304+0.315 = .306

Jose Bautista: -2.5/673*1.304+0.402 = .397

Fangraphs used to include this in wOBA and then they decided to separate it.

How many RBIs do you guys think Bautista will have this year? Hopefully he will have another 100+ year

Driving runs in is so important

yes, and driving in the big runs is especially important. :D

seriously, is there a metric that looks strictly at RBIs but in relation to the ease (or difficulty) plus number of opportunities an individual player had of accumulating them during the course of the season?

for example, to take the two extremes ... (say) one hitter always comes to the plate with the bases loaded and less than 2 out, whereas another hitter always comes up with the bases empty?

is there an advanced stat that takes a player's total RBIs while factoring in the above info re number of men on base, and on which base(s), plus number of outs during each plate appearance to measure the true run driver iners?

I was at Braves vs Orioles today. Joe Benson 4/5 with a walkoff single!

Seeing Orioles fans walk out with tears streaming down their faces was the highlight of my vacation so far.

He isn't him. King is sexually active; should have acne on his face #FAPfapFAP

The most important stat for position players is runs scored

Correct but wRC+ is a close 2nd.

How does ARod get a year without pay and Hamilton walks?

Because cheating and relapsing are not the same thing?

Hamilton not suspended at all.

Texas Front Office: It is great news for our organization. We don't have 2B, the chubby Navarro is piece of s***, Lind is only good hitter against righties, Nieuwenhuis will not play every day and Segura is Segura.

Too early to make a GDT (and that's not my department, anyway...) but the Jays game is apparently free on MLB.TV today.

MLB Trade Rumors

Braves Release Wandy Rodriguez

Sign him to MiL deal. I remember at time of Happ trade many thought the Jays should've gotten him instead of Happ for what they gave up. Well, it turns out Happ was flipped for Saunders so that worked out alright.

I couldn't be more guilty.

It was the start of a bad 6 months which included the Gomes, Marlins and Mets trades.

Here's hoping he can turn Reyes and/or Dickey into a similar return to Saunders.

We'll see.

Carson Cistulli picked the Blue Jays to win the AL East and Devon Travis to win AL ROY.

Fangraphs staff predictions: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-2015-staff-predictions/

Thanks for the article. Pompey/Norris getting a lot of votes. I'd have to take Walker over those guys but it's exciting that the Jays have THREE guys who should contend for the RoY.

Three! Travis might be the only rookie who could conceivably hit .300, FWIW. Maybe Rusney Castillo too but who knows.
