^ april fools?

I'd hope so.

Why is Stanton not a zombie tho? seems like discrimination unless he's about to smash their faces in.

Yes, he's the hero who will take them all down. Or some BS.

Seems like a fairly accurate representation of the team to me. Stanton + a bunch of walking corpses.

I don't have much faith in biomechanics at all because it don't know where it's foundation lies. On the surface it just seems like a shared group of truisms. Is there any actual science to it at all?

Enough players have played baseball and had surgery at this point that you can certainly correlate the presence of certain things with injury risk. That's a huge job though. Most of it is in-house, I think. Not sure if there's anything publicly available like that. I don't actually know what any of the indicators are.

You're right that it's hogwash a lot of the time. People will just pick a guy's delivery apart with pictures after he gets hurt and say - "look at those high elbows - I told you so!".

But the one thing that it has going for it is sensibility.

I'd really like to see some numbers on this rather than anecdotal evidence. Otherwise, I'm pretty much going to assume confirmation bias.

I'm really sick of Hayhurst. Why does this guy have an opinion over others?

Imagine if a guy like Jesse Carlson went out and started doing radio gigs talking about all the s*** he did in pro sports? All cause of one or two good seasons.

This Hayhurst guy didn't even finish one full good season in the BP.

Its because the media loves him. Spill clubhouse secrets and you're a media darling. Very bad at the analysis part of his job.

Sooner or later the guy will run out of s*** to talk about.

Unless he makes up rumors out of his ass, which he may resort to.

Is there anyone left on this club that was on the 25 man when he pitched here? Bautista? Cecil?

He did embellish a may be true/may not be true rape story during his time in the minors I remember a deadspin article about it. They ripped him

Hayhurst is in the media because he has written one of the best baseball books... ever (and then some). He's a bit more annoying on the radio and TV but the guy has a real opinion and interesting ways of his expressing himself. There's too many dumb broadcasters in baseball as it is, Hayhurst is not one of them.

Agreed.

God Damn It! I just wanted to be a dimissive lazy ******* about this. You mean I have to form an informed opinion? (Kicks rock.)

He's isn't any good at the actual baseball analysis part which is important. He's an articulate version of Pat Tablet. Stories but no way of explaining baseball strategies or pitching sequences.

I'm surprised Sam LeCure cleared waivers. With the number of teams looking for reasonably priced middle relief, you'd think someone would have been happy to snag him.

In this televised Yankee - Pirates game (instead of the Jays ), Burnett seems to be topping out at 88-89 mph. Not sure how accurate the radar gun is, but that's a pretty large drop if true.

What's Pineda hitting on their gun?

Verlander to DL, for the first time in his career.

He probably should have been on it last year

Something is seriously the matter with his arm

But he still throws mid 90's. Freak of nature

I haven't seen one posted for him yet (most aren't being shown). Could be that they're still calibrating the guns. Pineda LOOKS noticeably faster though.

I heard he switched pine tar brands.

Wow, Jesse Carlson. What the hell happened to him, he was so good.

He tore his rotator cuff in 2011 and could never come back. Shame, because he peaked as a pretty nasty LOOGY (who could also get RHB out) and with that delivery from the left side he probably could have pitched until he was 40 if the arm didn't give.

Poor guy barely made $1M in his career!
