KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The play here would be to take Pig f***er so that you can get Handsome Chase That would be quite the play. I'm pretty sure both have the Jays on their no-trade.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Every no-trade clause in baseball contains the Toronto Blue Jays. In case you were thinking that the Jays players' woudln't have that. You would be right except the Jays don't allow their players to have no-trade clauses.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 That would be quite the play. I'm pretty sure both have the Jays on their no-trade. Yeah but it would be an "I'll go if you go" situation between two best buddies.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The play here would be to take Pig f***er so that you can get Handsome Chase That'd be cool, if Philly eat dollars. Or vice-versa, preferably the latter, if the Jays have the coin, or they'll be paying a bit in spects.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Yeah but it would be an "I'll go if you go" situation between two best buddies. Pigf***er has friends?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Which is a bit inconspicuous considering they let a lot of their better players walk in free agency. Why is it inconspicuos, if that's how it rolls in players and Canada, there's a reason for this layed out on a platter? Nothing has changed since our inauguration to the league in 76, besides Dominicans?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 The players that would command no trade clauses never get traded. Making a no trade clause fairly redundant. They happen all the time, said player waives the clause? Anyhow, Toronto doesn't do it because we're in Canada, pretty simple. There has to be a little give and take, just business, really.

He would fill a need there If they eat 100% of his salary and he agrees to a face transplant so I don't have to look at his stupid face, then okay... maybe...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Fix the BP but damn don't trade something useful for that contract

What if they eat no cash but he agree to the face transplant? And what if the face transplant is YOUR FACE?
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Pap Smear has a vesting option at 13M for 55 "games finished" in 2015, or 100 in 2014+2015. He had 52 last year and his career low is 49. So basically, if he doesn't get hurt or lose the closer role, the option is very likely to vest.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 What if they eat no cash but he agree to the face transplant? And what if the face transplant is YOUR FACE? If Papelbon's going to come out wearing his face, they'd better have some serious metal blaring when he does and I don't mean Shippin' out to Boston.

It would be dumber than dumb to have him close in that case. Just sign f***in' K-Rod already.

Good thing the team has an offense that will (hopefully) keep them ahead by at least 4 runs for a lot of wins.
baubau Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I doubt we'll get him guys. Don't worry. Amaro will ask for something like Norris. No way our managme.... oh s***.

Actually, there are plenty of decent RP left out there. No need to even pay KRod (who might suck). Badenhop Coke Cotts Soriano Joba Axford Personally I'd try to get one of Joba/Axford + one of Cotts/Coke. Preference for Joba and Cotts.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 ^ I've been wondering why so many guys have been flying under the radar in the BP discussions. Turns out I'm not crazy - there is some significant talent left out there.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Ken Rosenthal Still hearing #BlueJays’ interest in Papelbon is extremely limited. Would only entertain trade if financial risk was minimal. = 3way deal or PTBNL (Hoffman saga #3)
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 What if they eat no cash but he agree to the face transplant? And what if the face transplant is YOUR FACE? Well, it would certainly be a distraction, all the batters would be like "damn, I wanna make out with that dude!" and soforth...
