I think we could use a CaptainHindsight account as well, would really spruce the joint up, y'know?

Exactly. LOL

Captain hindsight will constantly remind us how we shouldn't have traded Yan Gomes. (oh wait, people already do that)

I think we should of drafted Mike Trout instead of Chad Jenkins.

That's just what I think.

By the way do you know what number I need to call to reach the Mike Wilner show??

Thanks

Letting Chris Carpenter walk may have been a mistake. Seems to me that an extra Cy Young pitcher in the rotation might have helped some.

Interesting thought. That would of been a good one... We should of done that.

Cy Young pitchers really help. I remember Roy Halladay was terrific.

What about this retrospective trade proposal we should of made in late 2008

Vernon Wells, Adam Lind, Travis Snider, Alex Rios, Cito Gaston and Duayn Murphy

for

Clayton Kershaw

The Dodgers couldn't of said no. 2 great outfielders, two great lefty hitting prospects, a (well regarded at the time) manager and hitting coach

for

1 pitcher with a 4+ era

We would of gotten a perrenial Cy Young and it would of saved us all the trouble of Wells salary, and Snider's failures and that "mutiny" episode with Cito,.

There goes the Dbacks as a trade partner for Navarro

Stewart: D’Backs Will Not Pursue Catching Upgrade

GM Dave Stewart says that he has decided not to pursue an upgrade behind the plate, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. Instead, the club will rely on the continued development of recent trade acquisition Peter O’Brien while also utilizing some combination of Tuffy Gosewisch and Rule 5 pick Oscar Hernandez.

Piecoro quotes Stewart:

“I’ve decided that I’m not going to pursue another catcher. I talked with my people and my coaching staff. They believe that O’Brien is going to be around sooner than later. If that does happen, there’s no need to go out and get another guy. We would have had to trade somebody we didn’t want to trade to make it happen. We’re going to be patient and allow the progression of O’Brien to take place and stand pat on that.”

O’Brien, 24, came to Arizona in the Martin Prado deal and only had time for four games in his new organization. A bat-first catcher, the question remains whether O’Brien’s glove will be good enough to keep him behind the dish. Piecoro reports that Arizona was impressed with his work in the AFL, and notes that the team has had a chance to watch him over the last few days as well. Of course, it is far from clear that O’Brien will be ready to contribute at the big league level this season, leaving the team with quite a thin group at the position.

So basically, they balked at the price.

O'Brien will be JPA at best

horrid defence if he sticks with pop but sub 240 avg and sub 300 bop

either way probably just a ploy to try and kill navarros stock a bit and make the jays give in for their offer

Don't the A's need a catcher now? I just mentioned it on another thread, flip Navarro & Izturis for Zobrist. It plugs holes at C and 2B for them and the salaries all matchup and are 1yr for everyone, of course it will also take a prospect from us to get it done but it's worth it imo. Zobrist is that damn good and is the lefty bat/multi positional depth player we need to put us over the top.

It wouldn't cost us financially and we'd still have money for relievers, this trade benefits both clubs and needs to happen!

Two replacement level players don't net you one of the game's greatest assets.

Edit: Didn't read the prospect part. Still not enough to get it done unless that prospect is Norris.

I agree he really is that good and the prospect part is the only way Billy loosens his grip. There might be some alternatives like Pentecost or Osuna, maybe 2 mid tiers combined like Smoral & Davis. Either way it will be steep but I would definitely be fapping.

Vogt and Phegley are both better than Navarro.

Yeah Vogt probably he is but he's a bit of an uncertainty coming off of surgery and Phegley's a crap shoot. Billy might be enticed if the prospect is appealing enough.
