hi im new here been lurking for awhile,am i the only one who thought redmond did a pretty good job as the long man last year?when i read threads about the bullpen he barely gets a mention if at all.anyways i thought he was good,and thanks ive learned alot from this board over the last few years....should have signed up before.

He did do a good job but the periphs are not to pretty.

He's been a decent arm for the last two years for Toronto. A guy who can get righties out, throw multiple innings, go through a lineup once (unless it's too lefthanded - lefties crush him).

 

He's out of options too so he'll almost certainly be the #7 RP out of the gate, unless he gets hurt or traded before opening day.

 

He's a sinker/slider guy who only sits ~90 and doesn't even get groundballs though. Could be terrible at any given point.

Redmond is a nice 7th pen guy. He should never see anything resembling a high-leverage situation, but he can come in and clean up messes without gas-canning the game away. Keep him around until/unless he gets into the $1 million+ salary range and then find someone else who can do his job for the min.

He's a hit or miss, he's usually ok but sometimes if you give him the ball, he will probably give up the game.

Todd Redmond is okay but he's a critically flawed pitcher. He doesn't strike out enough or walk few enough batters to get away with his ground-ball tendencies. While he's pitched admirably and is a relatively new pitcher for the Blue Jays, he's not going to develop any more to warrant a more permanent role in the future.

 

So I'm pretty indifferent to what the Blue Jays do with him. Don't really understand the people on Twitter who campaign for him (Wilner and other media types encourage it).

 

Redmond's good in the LR role, as BTS said, once he gets too expensive you move on.

Honestly, Admin did such a good job to distance this board from that old site. No one even advertises this site over there anymore. We have been around for 615 days now, average over 745 posts a day...even if you take the few posts that trolls from that board have got in, it's minuscule. So I consider it a personal insult, at the guy that's operating this site out of his own pocket, to continually bring up the guys that ruined the old board. An occasional joke is one thing as so many of us have a history over there, but these accusatory posts are no longer tolerated. I do appreciate that you took your 24 hour timeout without any back tall, I just want everyone to understand why I am penalizing people for this.

Sounds fair, that old board really was bad. This board is way better but in all seriousness it's mostly the same posters.
