I doubt it's the Jays but the price is pretty reasonable albeit with some inherent risk. 5M posting fee, and he's looking for 5-6M over 4 years.

11:59pm: In an English-language article, Yonhap reports (h/t to Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net, on Twitter) that the club has in fact announced the acceptance of the bid. The article indicates that even Nexen is not sure which MLB club subitted the winning offer.

 

Per the article, Kang is seeking between $5MM and $6MM per season on a multi-year deal of up to four years in duration.

It would be nice if we'd land one of the two foreign guys for 2B. I have no clue which one is better overall, but we have the need, and the cost shouldn't be prohibitive.

The rookie Eric Thames was a pretty solid hitter. The funny thing about him is that he even acknowledged putting on serious muscle mass in baseball wasnt a good idea before his rookie. season. Two years later he became the Hulk and was out of the league

My guess is that the winning bid is from either the Blue Jays or Padres. The team of those 2 that fail to sing Kang will sign Toritani. At least this what I am hoping for…

I think both are upgrades over our internal options. My personal preferance would be Kang, so I am actually really hoping the winning bid is from us. I have a lot of doubt… but enough hope to be intrigued

thames had legit power and had a pretty good first season. His .OPS was .727 for his mlb time and he couldn't play a lick of defense. Thames may very well be a better player now than he was in the MLB...and his offensive numbers weren't the big problem when he was in the mlb anyways.

I had the jays with a less than 1 percent chance of landing kang, but with this whole code of silence I'm bumping that up to 5%! I don't think the jays will go after kang, although I would love if they did, but why hasn't the team announced they won the bid. Most normal teams don't feel the need for secrecy like the Jays.

I think I'd rather have Toritani because he's as SS and the Jays could use another one of those. Commitment should be smaller too.
