Anyone here think the Jays get another starter? Take a chance on Anderson or Morrow again or possibly take a run at Shields if the payroll reports are inaccurate?

That's not an uncommon opinion around here... Probably a 60/40 starter/reliever split in opinions on this board.

I feel like he could pitch next year in the pen to mature a little, but long term he should be a starter.

Thankyou IKR if you disagree with him your apparently a Troll or a Garbage Clown.

Did he call you an insufferable sourpuss?

Personally I don't think he'll cut it as a starter, so he should be traded immediately. If he's not traded then you may as well try him as a starter in AAA. Chances are he won't succeed, but he could. He could also still suck in the BP though, he had a terrible SwStr% last year in the pen.

Thankyou finally someone who agrees with me that Sanchez may not be good enough to start. What is your opinion on Dickey could the Jays trade him if they could find an upgrade say Shields? Not that it would be likely just a possibility.

I think Morrow is unlikely, he's going to take a role where he can try to rebuild his value as a stater... I don't have enough information on Anderson to make a credible comment, and I think there's like... 15% chance the Jays make a competitive offer for Shields.

Yeah, I could see Shields going to the Redsox unfortunately.

They need another starter. Floyd IMO is the better risk than Anderson or Morrow.

What forum was that??

You won't get banned here for having a different opinion unless you are a sociopath with 10 accounts. Then you might get banned.

The commenters over at his site don't seem to be very intelligent either, they would just jump on me rather than read my comment and understand the point, I was trying to make. I mean it is like all of them suffer from poor reading comprehension lol.

No he doesn't say that anymore he now calls people Garbage Clowns lol.

Man, at least insufferable sourpuss means something. Garbage Clown is just random and nonsensical.

I know it is illogical Stoeten makes no sense whatsoever.

I think he's just working up to when he can eventually say "that's a Garbage Clown question, bro"

I think Anderson makes sense. If he sticks then great! If not then Norris will be ready.

The question with Anderson is not if he can perform but can he stay healthy? Well he would be a good pickup he is talented but injury prone. The Jays could still use more depth in the outfield in case of injury to Saunders.

I'm mostly okay with Pillar and Carrera as OF depth, it's not an area I'd want to spend money on (unless it's minor league free agency. Minor league free agents for DAYS...).

If Anderson can't stick in the rotation due to health maybe he'd shift to the pen when Norris comes up.

In terms of 2B, we could probably pick up Everth Cabrera for a couple million. That would also give us the option of letting him play short and shifting Reyes to 2B.

He had a down year last year, but he was great the two previous seasons, and he's only 28.

I'd be willing to gamble a couple million that he's gotten better at avoiding detection.

Facetious PED remarks aside, as much as it makes sense on paper, apparently he's a "bad egg" for reasons that I can't really remember.

Maybe it's just the insidious/surreptitious Padres post-breakup propaganda getting to me.

AA only likes good eggs.

Agreed this would be a good gamble providing he rebounds and at worst the Jays could just use him as a bench bat/utility player/pinch runner

And of course, the PED suspension. Maybe more I'm missing. He's a bad dude.

Where did you hear this? I do not think they are near their payroll from last year yet, which was supposedly going to increase.

EDIT: I've read the rumours that they might be close, but it's all speculation isn't it?

Rule 1: Ignore everything you EVER see written about the Jays payroll. Sports media, especially that of the Toronto variety, is an endless stampede of sweaty out-of-breath donkeys that desperately believe that they know far more than everybody else knows they know.

Every few weeks some moron beat writer draws up some idiotic story about payroll out of complete head-up-your-own-ass speculation and then every other writer from every imaginable outlet runs with it until all we're left with is an indifferent hipster Stoeten blog, a comment on this forum about how dark the depths of Twitter really are, 16 Bob Elliott typos, and a shitstorm of angsty raging trolls in comment threads on sites like TSN, Sportsnet, the Sun and the Globe and Mail.

The Jays 2015 payroll is whatever it's going to be on the first week of April. We know nothing outside of that, the writers we quote know nothing outside of that, and there's zero merit in trying to speculate. All we can do is discuss who we think are good, valuable players that the Jays should pursue, and have a collective hive-wide, circle-jerk orgasm if Alex actually acquires one of them.

If there's ample payroll space, I think they should get Lowrie. If there's little payroll space, I really like the idea of this Taka-Tori guy. If there's no space at all, oh well, I can live with platooning Izturis with Valencia/Tollhouse and an eventual Travis call up.
