TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Facetious PED remarks aside, as much as it makes sense on paper, apparently he's a "bad egg" for reasons that I can't really remember. Maybe it's just the insidious/surreptitious Padres post-breakup propaganda getting to me. AA only likes good eggs. Funnily enough, AA has actually been at the forefront of capitalizing on the market inefficiency surrounding "bad eggs". Lawrie had drama with the Brewers, Escobar with the Braves, Rasmus with LaRussa, Donaldson and Beane, Saunders and Jack Z, Melky off the PEDs... he constantly gets valuable players in very very reasonable deals as soon as they fall out with their previous teams. That said, I really could live without Everth Cabrera. The guy's an absolute jackoff, and he's not good enough where it's a worthwhile trade off having your news feed full of all the dumb garbage about clubhouse chemistry

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 The upside on E. Cabrera is worth dealing with crap. I don't know what kind of uspside there is when a gusy seems to have some pretty desctructive tendencies. The Padres flat out gave up on him. Didn't even try to get something back. They may not be the smartest front office but that's pretty telling.

Only Melky really had any past off the field issues. ECab is a different animal with his issues and with AA's more recent ostensible focus on clubhouse chemistry I really doubt that he's even in consideration. It goes beyond a basic buy-low which is essentially all that Melky, Rasmus, Escobar, and Saunders were (and Morrow).

Maybe he's not on that level but some reclamation cases are lost causes. It's too bad too because I love the skill set.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Could investigate an incentive laden contract with ECab though. No arrests - $500,000. No drugs found on person or in blood test - $500,000. No incriminating on-line pictures - $250,000. Might work!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 So seattle was interested in Ian Desmond for 11mill and one year, they would give up miller but not Paxton and Tiajuan in the deal. So releasing my inner Ninja! Lol Would a Reyes and Navarro plus 12.5 mill this year be enough to interest them in giving us Hulten,Pike and then Miller and Ackley in a deal? Could this deal be made or would more be needed? Miller and Ackley gives us options and two left hand bats too!

As far a I know only incentives based on playing time and individual awards are allowed in MLB.

Time spent on restricted list + if he does stupid s*** you put him on the restricted list. Ian Desmond is a pretty interesting option.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Says you! Lol It's not always about winning a trade or no trades would ever be made! f***

Oh I absolutely agree that none of those guys were on the level of jerkoff that Everth is, which is why I don't think there's a chance in hell AA signs him. And I agree with that. There's a certain point where the negatives in a player's personality start to outweigh the buy-low profile.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Sorry, I am new here and, I am unfamiliar with the message board. I got banned from the last Jays forum, I was in just for having a different opinion than the Admin. Well around here, having an opinion gives you a different opinion than Admin. The mods are a mix bag of Swedes, lesbians, and one who is such an ******* that he wants to see this Jays team fail. So having similar opinions to the mods would not be easy.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 JJ Putz is better than Goins. Agreed. zero career Plate Appearances...so I'm going to go out on a limb and say Putz has the better bat.

I see you suggesting trading for him and Morneau often. Just curious. I don't judge. What ever floats your boat.
