glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Does anyone find it a bit strange that ever since this rumor started in December that the Jays have done nothing? The off-season has died thanks to Eddie and his stupidity.

DD may have just shut down business completely until this gets sorted out.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 We could be witnessing the worst trade ever made by the Jays.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I have an update According to my recent remote viewing session. Orioles are accepting a package with Hoffman and Hutch
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 seriously, I wish they would just back out now. I am going to be so pissed if we send good players over for some executive.
jays76 Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 We could be witnessing the worst trade ever made by the Jays. They really need to stop Hassling the Hoff.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Do we throw our Jays jerseys on the ice at the ACC as well, if this 'trade' actually happens?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The guys in charge of the negotiating for you guys don't even know what baseball is. Ed Rogers had to go to the Yankees to ask them who he should pick for Team President. Keith Pelley doesn't even know what a relief pitcher is. The dynamic duo contacted Kenny Williams without consent ("Tampering" Exhibit A) and apparently did the same with the O's ("Tampering" Exhibit . You've got Dumb and Dumber handling this situation and you actually think you're going to get Duquette for peanuts? Don't be surprised if Peter Angelos owns you're team when this is over. LOLZ. *Roger Rai, lol f***tard. If you want to be effective, you first have to get your s*** together, trolls. a) You know that's not possible. Why are we discussing not only ignoring established precedent for executive compensation, but blowing the existing precedent out of the water? That would be like "well, I know a contract for this type of player is generally in the $50M/4 year range, but I want to offer him $200M/4 instead, for no discernible reason." To be fair, this happens. A-Rod's first contract did just that, and so did Stanton's new extension. Does anyone find it a bit strange that ever since this rumor started in December that the Jays have done nothing? The off-season has died thanks to Eddie and his stupidity. No.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I was wondering the same thing, but I think it's affected Baltimore more. DD may have just shut down business completely until this gets sorted out. It probably has hurt Baltimore more, but doing nothing for two months waiting for Lloyd Christmas to broker a deal for an executive may have cost the Jays a win or two just by not adding talent when the opportunity was presumably there. Twenty two years without the playoffs and ownership freezes the roster to negotiate with an executive? That's disgusting.
flafson Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 If Blue Jays actually thought so is one thing, if someone who knows nothing about Baseball thinks that.... That's a different story.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 An O's fan posting a Rosenthal tweet. Bottom-feeding at this point. If Cubs thought Theo was a difference maker, why didn't they trade a top prospect for him? Oh right, because that would be dumb, and only Orioles fans are dumb enough to believe that it wouldn't be dumb.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The biggest form of compensation for a management employee ever is probably Mike Aviles for John Farrell, and that was with David Carpenter going back. Yes, that was in the division, and above that, it was a lateral move. The old fossils in baseball actually even believe managers are worth a whole s*** ton more than they actually are. So there, that's your precedence. Mike Aviles should be, and probably is the ceiling of what you can get. Duquette isn't even a lateral move like Farrell was, no, actually he's getting a major promotion, so theoretically the O's should get even less than that.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Navarro for Duquette. That's the most Baltimore should get, especially if the Jays had to take back Mike Aviles for Farrell.

For all of Pelley’s years in sports broadcasting, he once shocked a meeting by asking, “What’s a relief pitcher?”
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 If a GM has no impact on the field why do they even have the position. They could just let the fans vote on whom to draft and whom to makes trades for. Most fans can't even manage their day-to-day lives, let alone a f***ing baseball team.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 http://www.torontosun.com/2015/01/22/blue-jays-wont-for-gm-dan-duquette-but-rogers-might "Or is it Keith Pelley, president of Rogers Media (the Jays fall under his umbrella)? The dynamic duo contacted Kenny Williams without consent ("Tampering" Exhibit A) and apparently did the same with the O's ("Tampering" Exhibit . A) "The dynamic duo" implying Pelley and Rogers are working together on this. Pelley isn't the guy at Rogers' side in this whole clusterf***, Roger Rai is. Pelley and Beeston have a great relationship and Pelley has been around and close to the Jays long enough to not walk around like a moron with his head cut off. They haven't contacted anyone without consent, it's Angelos being the stupid f***ing prick that he is, leaking this story as much as he can to get the most leverage out of the situation. Moron doesn't realize how much it's backfired and made the O's look like a trash organization. Nobody wanted to work for the O's back when you were forced to hire Duq off the scrap pile, and even fewer people will want to work for them now. There's a reason for that. O's fans are too blind to the fact that everyone other than yourselves hates your organization, your ownership and much of your front office. It's an impossible situation for any decent, self-respecting executive to try and thrive in, without getting fed up and eventually wanting out, like what Duquette is feeling now. There's a reason your FO was rejected by LaCava, Dipoto and many others in your last GM search.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Why Blue Jays should pass on Dan Duquette: Griffin http://i.gyazo.com/2b9c39b45b47b7f8fbb447191b0036cb.png These ain't loyal.
Testicles Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Idk how many of you guys have actually been to Baltimore but yeah, not a pretty place. Realistically, the worst tampering charge they can lay on us is slashing out 2015 IFA bonus pool, which would mean no Guerrero Jr., probably, which would suck, but I'd take keeping Hoffman over Guerrero. Lol. You've obviously never been to Baltimore. It's a gorgeous city. Yeah it has dangerous areas (like every big city) but I've never been in an uncomfortable situation. You're probably scared to go there, but trust me, it'll be ok.
flafson Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Everyone should retweet that.

He gives no shits about precedents.
IBleedOrange Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 When the Nats first moved to Washington, Angelos fought it and got a deal where the TV revenue shared by the two teams were a 85-15 split. You f*** with Angelos, you're going to get ripped off. He isn't going to be accepting your backup players or fringe prospects for his GM.
Testicles Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 If Hoffman is the compensation I'll make sure he gets shot before he's ever able to wear a Baltimore uniform. You people seem to think that everyone in Baltimore gets shots anyway so you shouldn't have to take matters into your own hands.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Everyone should retweet that. Don't retweet that, it has Stoeten's name on it. Retweet any of the other many tweets that people have sent to Ed, like this one: The amazing thing about this situation is that it feels like the first time a fanbase as volatile as that of the Jays is actually united in near-unanimous agreement that it would be a bad trade. Between the advanced stat guys, the casual guys, and the die-hards, it seems everyone equally hates the rumors of who they could give up. https://twitter.com/search?q=%40EdwardSRogers&src=typd

Sad thing is I don't think Rogers would Care as long as they get there "Yes" Man
Testicles Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Let's get one thing straight: the city of Baltimore is a steaming pile of dog s***. Detroit is a steaming pile of dog s***. St. Louis is a steaming pile of dog s***. Cleveland is a steaming pile of dog s***. Oakland is a steaming pile of dog s***. Buffalo is a steaming pile of dog s***.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Sorry but you're dealing with Peter Angelos. He gives no shits about precedents. Who gives a f***? Angelos is not a big deal. I don't know why he thinks, and why Baltimore fans think that he's such an important man. If he was as much of a tough son of a bitch as he's being made out to be, 90% of what we're hearing in the news wouldn't be forcibly leaked by the old shitter himself. He's desperate because he knows he's in a situation where he's between a rock and a hard place. He either publicly bends over and submits and gives up Duquette, or he forces a guy to stay against his own wishes. He has absolutely no leverage, which is why we're now hearing of reports that the Orioles are considering blackmailing the Jays against a "tampering charge". We know nothing about how much of a moron Ed Rogers really is. He hasn't spoken on the matter. All we know is what fossilized idiots like Bob Elliott have reported, and Elliott talks more out of his ass than he does out of his mouth. Is there a miniscule chance that Rogers is a raging idiot and will make a dumb decision? Yes. But there is an exponentially greater chance that when all is said and done, trade or no trade, Orioles fans will be left bitter, angry, and completely unsatisfied about the whole thing. Which I guess is okay, since that's your fan base's general composure all the time.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I wish the Blue Jays would move to a new division so we wouldn't have to put up with the absolutely terrible fanbases of the other AL East teams.
