If I ever become not lazy enough to find out how Lafrentz54 changed his name to L54, I'm totally gonna go with DP69.

Never expected to really actively post, but since I have I figured it would be a good idea to not have my name plastered on a message board.

Dumn idea is dumn.

He's actually pretty close on the family tree, oddly enough.

Scary thing is that Ed Rogers knows absolutely nothing about baseball. If he instructs AA to move some prospect named Dan Norris for Duquette, Norris is gone.

This is the incredible bit. It's being reported that Ed Rogers actually asked Randy Levine (president of the Yankees) who to hire for the job and Levine gave him the names of Kenny Williams and Dan Duquette. That's where this whole thing allegedly started, at least according to Old Man Elliott.

Which, if true, is brutal for us. Though it does add another hilarious layer to the O's fans pain, because they literally believe that at this point, the MLB, the Jays and the Yankees are collectively conspiring against them.

They removed him from all baseball related duties...yet for some reason they put him in charge of this one. Even worse is that he went out to seek the advice of who to hire from his UWO buddies...who work for the Yankees. Nothing like getting removed from all baseball activities from your Dad's baby...then they give you one role and he seeks the advice of a division rival. I'll have to find a link where this was actually stated as it was a kid from school that told me he read it. I never actually sourced the story so I'm sorry if this is BS.

Talked to the guy that fed me the story on Ed Rogers going to the Yankees for advice on who to pursue and asked him where he heard the info...it was f***ing Stoeten's site. I've straightened him out on baseball sources for the future.

No.

What we do know:

1. Edward Rogers and his good friend Roger Rai, a “sports consultant” to the Rogers empire, met with New York Yankees president Randy Levine in New York looking for suggestions as to who to hire as the next president.

Levine gave the two friends from their University of Western Ontario days, a pair of names: Kenny Williams of the Chicago White Sox and Duquette.

Although Elliott is almost as terrible as Stoeten.

I also have no idea what the hell he's talking about with the University of Western stuff.

Edward III and Levine both went to UWO

That's what I assumed was implied by Elliott, but I don't see anything anywhere about Levine attending UWO. I don't even know why he would attend UWO, being a law student born in Brooklyn.

Levine got his BA from GWU and his JD from HOFSTRA, so unless he had some top secret semester at Western that nobody else knows about, or until someone with better research skills than me can find something, I'm just gonna chalk it up to Elliott being aged as f***, and this just being another inexplicable tidbit in his seemingly endless line of senseless drivel and gibberish.

The two friends from UWO he most probably was referring to were Edward Rogers and Roger Rai and not meant to imply that Levine attended UWO. I believe the sentence could have been constructed a little differently to avoid any confusion. Then again, the fluff (two friends from their University of Western Ontario days) could have simply been left out entirely.

Levine gave Edward Rogers and Roger Rai, two friends from their University of Western Ontario days, a pair of names.

If he had said "Levine gave his two friends from their University of Western Ontario days... " that would imply Levine was part of the UWO group.

Just my interpretation of what was meant to be said.

This is what I deduced as the only possible logical explanation, but it still makes no sense. There was absolutely no need to throw in the bit about Western, it's completely irrelevant to the article unless Levine was a classmate of theirs himself. All it does is confuse people and create a story where there isn't one.

One executive getting the professional opinion of another rival executive is a lot different than three buddies from their college days kicking back at a bar and talking business.

Everybody who's read this story thinks Levine and Ed Rogers have been friends since college and unless there's any truth to that, it's stupid and it's misinformation. Levine has more of an incentive to fill Rogers' ear with ******** if they're simply executives from rival clubs, where it would be less of a possibility if they were friends of 20 years.

And chance that Romero surprises this spring? I know he had knee surgery in June, and there was talk he might have the other one worked on. Anyone know anything? It's his last year, maybe he'll be motivated to be something in ST.

Motivated, stranger words never spoken in context about Romero! He's been motivating for two years now, off with his head! :)

Navarro's $6M prevents us from signing a player or two methinks, of the relief pitcher variety. We need those type of players more than Navarro.

Also, I like DD a lot, so it we got him AND freed up that cash to sign a couple guys, yay!

Lastly, I think that woulde only enhance our chances to sign Shields.

Finally, I don't even give a s*** anymore.

I never did give a s***. We lose a prospect/player for a suit ????

Players have special talent, CEO's are a dime a dozen. Stick AA in that position for all I care.

CEO's are definitely not a dime a dozen and do require special talent. Having said that, doesn't make sense to give anything of value for DD.

What a CEO essentially does:

Delegate everything to GM and so forth

Says no or yes to things on a whim

Approves and signs s*** that he doesn't even read

Gets bulk loads of vacation days

Hire/fire management people

Talks about strategy, some s*** he came up with on his train ride over

Shows face occasionally for major events

Kisses ass of investors and the like

Gets paid a bucket load
