burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Why hasn't any Blue Jays beat writer or any canadian news outlet report this or even just mention the report? Even if it is a Sunday it seems weird...

Even if it is a Sunday it seems weird... Well in this case the information being leaked is about Duquette and Williams leaving their post and has gone so far as Williams contemplating resigning from his post with the White Sox. The Jays conversely rarely have any leaks for anything so this would seem consistent that things are up and that it is probably pretty advanced to the point of others possibly leaving.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I'm not advocating ken williams, I'm just saying this process sounds like it's further along in the progress then just talk.

Yeah you could be right. Davidi hinted at this a while back as well too. I really hope Ken Williams is not hired though. Everything about him baseball wise I hated and I feel like he is going to try and be inside the baseball discussions.
leaffie Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 This came up on PTS a few months back. Macowan, said that Beeston always wanted to be head of the Leafs, and would leave the Jays in a minute if he was offered the job.

That ******* better stay away from the raptors!

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 What's wrong with Kenny Williams? His teams were competitive and he did a good job grooming Rick Hahn to be his successor. Look around baseball at the other team presidents, it's not all guys like Theo and Friedman like some of you seem to think. It's a collection of well-rounded baseball people who are good at communicating with ownership and with the FO. Kenny seems to get along well with AA and knows his way around the game. Because he was a terrible GM.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Why would Kenny Williams even be in the discussion? 'cuz he's black and young, like Obama.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Beeston is like 70 years old. The writing has been on the wall for a while. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/beestons-future-with-jays-uncertain-beyond-2014/ They're probably pretty far along in the process already.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 By what standard? His teams averaged 84.5 wins. His payroll was also one of the highest. Just go read what White Sox fans have to say about him and you will understand how bad he is.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I want to know how Beeston became such a "god" in the eyes of so many sports guys. Beeston knows absolutely nothing about sports, he had nothing to do with the building of the 92-93 teams. Seriously wtf why is Beeston so worshipped?
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 If i was running Rogers I'd be happy to get rid of a president who looks like a pedophile....
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Buster Olney Verified account @Buster_ESPN Sources: The Blue Jays have also discussed White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams as a replacement for Paul Beeston. Please no

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Now, with more certainty, AA is trying to save his job. Win or go home!! #Shields #Gregerson #Grilli For the money and what those 3 will get, I'd rather Lester.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Beeston is one ugly motherf***er. As long as I don't have to see that face anymore, I'll be satisfied.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Why would Kenny Williams even be in the discussion? Ferguson

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 By what standard? His teams averaged 84.5 wins. Is that good in a turrible division?
jerb Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Ken Rosenthal Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: Duquette wants to leave #Orioles, become #BlueJays’ prez/CEO. Some with club not opposed to his departure. Angelos standing in way. Ken Rosenthal Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal Duquette signed with #Orioles through 2018. Prez/CEO would be step up to business position, similar to what Dombrowski has with #Tigers. Ken Rosenthal Verified account @Ken_Rosenthal #Orioles could require compensation from #BlueJays, just as #RedSox required compensation when Epstein left for #Cubs.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Is Duquette a good gm? I haven't paid attention to the orioles, and everyone says they overachieved.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Well the good news is that he wants to come here. Just throw them a fringe prospect like Stilson and call it a day.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Is Duquette a good gm? I haven't paid attention to the orioles, and everyone says they overachieved. Better than Kenny Williams. Why would they require compensation? The job would be a promotion from what he has currently, no?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Ryan Goins for Dan Duquette?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 If I was the Blue Jays I would say screw you to compensation but good luck having your GM who has said he wants to leave to a division rival stay and run the team.
