gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Could this be part of a bigger move of Dickey and Thole being traded? You trade those two guys for nothing as a contract dump, and that frees up almost enough money to sign Lester (AAV).
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This move sucks, don't do it! Concussion prone back catcher this is going to end well ? Besides two days ago in my mind we already traded Smoak and Nolin and .... For Justin Morneau !!! Isn't 7 AM a little early to hit the rum?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Rum Does a body good ! Appears this whole thread is Rum induced in its thinking! Lol
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Brandon Moss please, if not then I would take a flyer on Kyle blanks.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Jaso is a great addition if he's healthy. +21 wRC+, 1B/C
JaysRap Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 My thoughts are the Jays are trying to set themselves up for an RA Dickey trade. Dickey + Thole for help (2B? LF?) and get Jaso to be as mentioned new backup C/DH help.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Isn't 7 AM a little early to hit the rum? Drinking rum before noon does not make you an alcoholic, it makes you a pirate!

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 if the jays acquire jaso that would mean our first two acquisitions of the offseason were 2 catchers. Who in a million years would have predicted that.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I mean i would not be opposed to this just because we need someone solid from the left side to balance the lineup. However if that was the case i don't get why move Lind. Jaso is what lind was a Monster against RHP and not great defensively. Just seems a little odd to me unless there is more involved like Sonny Gray lol.

And the frontoffice seems to be making a big deal now bringing in character guys.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 clubhouse cancer This seems really over the top.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Intangibles, for that reason we signed Martin......and frame game lol f*** you Lind and f*** you Dickey. Watch out Pillar, keep your composure.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I think there's a pretty good chance they just dump Estrada. Jaso + salary relief for Lind + Nolin. True. So save ~ 3 million.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Realistically, Lawrie should be gone too. But he's the golden canadian boy and is untouchable... He still has potential and value. Lind, not so much.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 He is pretty bad behind the plate but is a good hitter vs RHP. Not sure why we traded Lind as Lind is much better at filling that role than Jaso. One word: clubhouse
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Realistically, Lawrie should be gone too. But he's the golden canadian boy and is untouchable... Lawrie is potential 3-5 WAR player for league minimum, do you understand anything?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Lawrie is potential 3-5 WAR player for league minimum, do you understand anything? Except Lawrie is due for arb this season..

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 One word: clubhouse There's probably "star" players who are much worse in the clubhouse than Lind and Dickey.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 There's probably "star" players who are much worse in the clubhouse than Lind and Dickey. For what's little it's worth, I higlhy doubt Lind is a clubhouse cancer. He certainly has been on the same team for a long time for a supposed cancer. He does however have a reputation for being kind of a lazy player and he did seem very close to Lawrie. It might have been more about being a negative influence than anything else. The organization does seem preoccupied with providing Lawrie with the right kind of buddy. There may also have been some lingering friction between Gibbons and Lind. Lind reacted very strangely to the Gibbons re-hiring. He said something to the effect that Gibbons better have a better coaching staff this time around which was certainly an odd thing to blurt out.

I think your right in that Lind never had an issue with any of the other players but more so the coaching staff/management. He also has a history of injuries which I think the Jays took into consideration. I don't think him being lazy would do anything to Lawrie. Lawrie is pretty damn motivated and no one is going to change that. I still would have kept Lind though.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Fair enough...but at here's a question. How long do you go with a player that can't seem to stay healthy? I'm not saying now is the right time to bail, but at some point that has to be a consideration. Why would we bail? You say that like he's some useless asset. He's already fairly useful as is, and there's potential for a lot more.
