ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I know some don't put much stock in intangibles but I like Travis's attitude and the way he plays in all aspects of the game. He seems legitimately humbled to be in the bigs and committed to doing whatever it takes to stay there. Gose is getting marginal numbers on D which surprises me - substantial regression on O and his issues with converting his speed into a solid SB success ratio continue. For the record, I like Gose. It's just that he's a 4th OF. Getting an everyday guy like Travis to plug that gaping hole at 2B is simply great. Nevertheless, the love affair with Goins continues as he's in today's lineup over Travis. Oh well, just a day off.

What effect it has on the team is near impossible to quantify, but it is a lot more fun to cheer for this team than the last few years with Arrencibia, Lawrence and Gump (never minded Lind). It's unfortunate that Pompey's attitude seems more like Gose's than Travis'.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I would really prefer just a day where all the backups got in and played that game, as opposed to this one at a time thing. Then just have the regular set lineup most nights.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Lol AA ripped off Tigers big time
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Shut up Robert Wtf are you talking about And why is Hitler your avatar
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Thanks Sergio Santos (Santos for Kinsler canceled. Kinsler to the Tigers for Fielder. Kinsler block Travis, and Dumb-Broski trade him for ShitGose)
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Travis is such a stud. ^ owns Travis in Fantasy.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Shut up Robert This was a legit bump. Now it's clearly AA's second best trade of his tenure here.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 This was a legit bump. Now it's clearly AA's second best trade of his tenure here. Alex Gonzalez for Yunel Escobar was better imo

Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 TSN ALERT. Who is Travis I have no clue. FORM MY OPINION people! lol now I know.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 1. JD 2. Vernon 3. Travis 4. Morrow 5. Yunel
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Alex Gonzalez for Yunel Escobar was better imo Six years of control for Travis? No way. Not factoring in that AA signed Escobar to that team friendly deal afterwards.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Interesting question, would the Blue Jays have agreed to send Pillar to the Tigers instead of Gose if the Tigers had asked? I guess we will never know.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Gose had clout where pillar looked like a AAAA player If you look closely though, they put up similar value in 2014. On the other hand, it's certainly true that Gose was younger and was touted as a legit prospect for some time.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Alex Gonzalez for Yunel Escobar was better imo Yunel Escobar was a stud
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 1. JD 2. Vernon 3. Travis 4. Morrow 5. Yunel I'd swap Yunel and Morrow, morrow was broken half the time
admin Site Manager Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Interesting question, would the Blue Jays have agreed to send Pillar to the Tigers instead of Gose if the Tigers had asked? I guess we will never know. Pillar was a nobody until last year. Gose was a legit prospect with a lot of potential. THey would have sent five Pillars over.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Six years of control for Travis? No way. Not factoring in that AA signed Escobar to that team friendly deal afterwards. oops, forgot that the cheap extension came after. That's what I get for being a GD.

Pillar actually put up similar value to Gose in 2014, but yes, Gose was viewed as a legit prospect whereas Pillar was viewed as a 4th OF. Let's just be thankful the Jays didn't send Pillar or 5 Pillars the other way as the trade wouldn't be looking as good.

That's what I'm saying, Gose was a legit prospect, Pillar wasn't, actual on field value aside. Gose had a lot of potential. Worked out well for us.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 Ha!! I'd say his defense is 55-60 too. Arm might be a 45.
