Nox Verified Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 If you want to pretend that Posey wasn't on the same board, sure. Is this actually how you think? I guess 20+ GMs should be fired for passing on Trout in 2009 then. Including the guy who actually drafted Trout (because he passed on him once). He has nothing to do with what I've said all along, that they've had weak drafts for seven straight years. No, what you originally said was that he was atrocious at drafting. Period. No time frame. You have since tried to massage your angle into something defensible.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Every step of the way the people on this forum s*** on the Jays about moves in hindsight . That's such ********. The two moves that f***ed this team over (the Dickey and Marlins deals) were slammed from the beginning by the vast majority of useful posters. For instance, Hurl had it as a 9 figure projected loss in value.

Someone who has two decent drafts out of nine, when he had a 1:1 and a 1:3 pick in those first two, yes, I consider that atrocious at drafting and I still stand by that. To have zero legitimate prospects out of 10 top 60 selections in a single draft, that too a very strong draft, is garbage. It's indefensible. It doesn't matter how much you cry out to change that.

Really, it's no different that taking a 200 PA sample of a true talent .380 wOBA hitter in which he hit .280 and then calling him bad because of that.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Going back to Trout, wasn't it noted ******** Reagins who drafted him? Lol. Kind of the perfect anecdote to all this nonsense.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 There's also the fact that I'm not even really a Rays fan. I've been a Jays fan my entire life and will continue to be so once the fat f***ing imbecile in charge is booted out. Who would you expect to replace him, given that Beeston is also on his way out and we might have another off-season featuring the hiring process of Ed Rogers? Unless Nadir Mohamed manages to find an even less important toy in the Rogers empire for him to play with...hopefully the magazine business.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Tinnish? I always thought that Beeston is grooming AA for his role while everyone below him moves up a notch. But under a "fire AA" scenario does he stick around or does Rogers clean house and the new President hand picks his own people?

If AA were to be promoted I think Tinnish would almost certainly be the guy to step into the GM role. Who knows if both Beeston and AA are gone though.

Who knows if both Beeston and AA are gone though. Well we know Beeston is gone, but it's hilarious that it's of his own accord. And if Beeston is gone, all things considered, the new guy isn't gonna keep AA around when his best season was an 85 win year in a year he wasn't even trying to win. Since there's gonna be a new prez though I think that makes Tinnish a lot less likely to be the replacement. I really hope he gets it though, heard he's fantastic.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Beeston is gone for sure after that Ed Rogers mess. I suspect AA to be relieved of his duties while a guy like Tinnish or Lacava remains.
