I find it hard to believe the Jays would think Hutch is more of a sure thing and that they wouldn't move him to second.

Perhaps, but either way I don't see the deal happening, the Cubs wouldn't go through with it IMO.

I don't understand why DH can't win MVP. Has Victor Martinez not been ridiculously valuable... I think so. Hes absolutely a candidate.

Because a DH simply can't be the MOST VALUABALE PLAYER in the league lol!! I don't know his WAR but it can't be anywhere near the leaders.

It's not that a DH can't win, but he has to hit at near Barry Bonds levels to counter for the huge amount of value lost in the positional adjustment and the baserunning department which V-Mart doesn't provide either.

Cubbies loaded with position prospects... their need going forward is pitching

Agreed, he's made you Cubans proud.

GD I think it was gave a comp of Dayan Viciedo, and I don't think that's far off. He's a 1B/LF with a cannon of an arm but lacks overall defensive instincts. Offensively, big power to all fields, can't quite comment on his hit tool or plate discipline though, but they're average at best from what I recall, but I wouldn't take my word for it.

Apparently he's lost some weight though so that could be interesting.

Damn, that's about Tomas? I passed on Rusney, for one of Maeda or Tomas

The power can play, but I would wait on what the scouts think about the rest of his tools, as I don't have a very informed opinion on them (despite him playing for my hometown team :P). Maeda could be a keeper as well, not sure how his numbers fare relative to those of Darvish and Tanaka, but if their recent success is any indication Japan numbers might have some merit to them.

He apparently ran a decent 60 yard according to an MLBTR article, promising.

Season's officially over now. Let's just try to finish above .500.. we only need 2 wins! And we can kill Seattle's playoff hopes if we win one more or sweep..

Gee-whiz Marty, that sure sounds exciting!

Was at the game tonight. Caught Pompey's home run off King Felix. He totally crushed it, was a no doubter! Getting your 1st career MLB HR off King Felix is something!

Anyone else think Pompey will start in LF next season? Not because he is ready but because he makes nothing.

"He finished the year as LF and he hasn't done anything this spring to lose his spot." - Alex six months from now.

Why should Pompey go back to the minors, kids seems to be able to play at this level. He squared up the Felix ball good, better than any swing Gose has shown in 600 at bats. I say throw the kid in, and lets see what he can do

Either the souffle will rise or it wont. If he is any good he will be able to learn at the MLB level.

I agree, Pompey at the plate looks more professional than both Pillar and Gose. If those are the options being considered for CF, personally I'd go with pompey

I'm coming around on Pompey. His ascendacy has been scary fast (from barely discussed prospect to MLB in less than a season) but ultimately you have to love the skill set. The main argument for Gose in CF is the plus defense but Pompey has that too. Pompey is a switch hitter which means he seems more likely to cut it as an every day guy something that seems Pillar and Gose aren't and don't seems terribly likely to become. By all acounts, Pompey has much better makeup than Gose too. There's certainly a lot to like about him. If the Jays could get their hands on a Rajai Davis type and run with a Gose platoon while keeping Pillar and Pompey as insurance in AAA, that certainly wouldn be prudent but even in such a scenario, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Pompey wound up forcing the issue and stole the CF job.
