G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 For the Jays to win, they need to have people like Gose who can fill a job for very little money. That's how you balance out the other financial commitments. http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/28474.png&w=350&h=254

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I would love Big Game James. More than Lester. Same What a difference maker Seeya Happ

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You guys really want to commit big money to James Shields into his late 30s? Workhorse but he's going to be 33 and has a ton of innings on that arm.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 1. I know AA will be "in" on Shields 2. I know he'll get outbid

Someone will give him more.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Shields would be foolish to turn down the one year deal with four team options that Alex will offer him.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Not sure why everyone wants Shields so bad. Shields would be great to have but I would much rather have a good 2nd baseman and LF. Shields is going to cost more money than Buehrle and probably will want at least a 4 year deal. I honestly think Headley would make this team better than Shields would next season.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Coco Oh f*** you're right. Crisp.

A guy you can count on every 5th day to give you a high probabilty of a win and snap losing streaks short. A guy you feel good sending out in a 1 game wildcard play-in or game 1 of a series. All that said, our rotation has not been the problem this year and you're right - an upgrade at 2B would probably have a bigger impact.

I would rather have three number 2/3 starters than a so called"ace" (which Shields isn't) and couple other roster sport being occupied by replacement players.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 That's Coco Crisp bro. Yeah my silly mistake was already corrected. I don't know how I thought that was Manny.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I believe in Gose. His defense in Center is a major plus. He doesn't make any flashy plays because he doesn't need to. He floats under balls other guys dive for. I don't think his bat is hopeless either. Hes shown hes willing to take pitches and walk. I've already seen more line drives off his bat as well. His contact his very poor. He swings and misses way too often. Doesn't foul off pitches just pure whiffs. You need to use that speed by making contact and learning how to bunt. I love the defence, but the ability to make contact makes him a 4th of/late inning replacement guy

He will be more than serviceable vs RHP to be a valuable player when you include his overall game.

I know you just want him to make more contact, but the Juan Pierre approach really isn't that great, the guy had a career wRC+ of 86, which is surprisingly good for someone of his skillset and isn't for everyone. Kenny Lofton tapes please.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Yeah my silly mistake was already corrected. I don't know how I thought that was Manny. You though that because it would have been even more awesome so you tricked yourself to see it. Can't blame you. I really wish it WAS Manny.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Shields missed, though. Lol, well in that case maybe it's just as well that's it Coco.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Shields missed, though. Shields' PCP - (punch cnxn)/(punch attempt) ratio is awful
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Lol, well in that case maybe it's just as well that's it Coco. It certainly looked like a max effort whole body punch No NBA bitch slap
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I would love Big Game James. More than Lester. I'd prefer Lester but just for this team. The Jays really need to add a tough lefty.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Happ isn't doing it for you? Hes a big strong guy. I don't mind Happ, far from a tough lefty though! More of a mediocre piece. You need a top of the rotation lefty in the AL East

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You're asking for the impossible. I don't expect him to become Lofton, but showing a player with a similar skillset as his should at least be a good indicator of some things he could work on at the plate.

Kenny Lofton tapes please. Lofton had power and much better bat speed/control than Gose. Put the ball in play and f***ing run. It's mind blowing to me that Gose isn't an expert bunter yet.
