JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 There is no way AA offers him a one year deal, much cheaper options with a Gose / Pillar platoon and the eventual Dalton Pompey calling. Pompey would not be in AAA this year if this wasn't in AA's plans. Good point. I forgot Pompey was already there. Pillar seems to be a man on a mission to stay up since his recall. Gose seems to be able to hold his own and at least can do as good (worse case) if not better than Colby defensively. Maybe allocate those funds for something else or to be cheap and hold them for later.

It's frustrating with Colby because if he gives you something even close to his 2013 or 2010 seasons he's worth bringing back on a 1 year deal for $8-10M. Although that might be a moot point - aren't there rumblings that he doesn't want to stay in Toronto?

I don't think there's anyone you wouldn't have a rum with. So that's not really saying anything.

I wouldn't rule out obtaining a quality starting SS and moving Reyes to second base.

AA has a few options for CF,although i agree Pompey won't be one until mid season at the earliest. I think he'll scrape his nickels together and find a quality starting infielder.

I'd prefer 3B if we can get a guy with some pop and move Lawrie to 2B unless a decent hitting defensive 2B can be had. Reyes at 2B wouldn't be a bad idea since it's growing painfully obvious he's losing some range and is a liability at times. I'd rather him try and sign a FA rather than flip some more prospects unless it's a sold player. I guess it's all going to come down to what AA can acquire at what position.

I think he's going to hang on to his prospects, unless the right trade is presented. Personally, i'd throw a 3/30 offer in JJ Hardy's direction and move Reyes to 2B.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 What the f*** was that throw Reyes?
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Well, that sucked big time.

comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Reyes made that throw because he knows our offense wont score for Happ.
