Do you have any examples? Even if he is arrogant, why does that matter? I never get why anyone cares how these guys act.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Or the way he uses the word "erudite." Oh, that wasn't him. For the record, "erudite" is typically a "trying too hard" type of word in casual conversation. But it's usage is worse when it's used as a noun, when it's actually an adjective. Oh the ironic!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 1.He's old 2.He looks sloppy 3.He was acquired at his absolute peak value that he never would've approached when younger and never would again, and a heavy price was paid. 4.The Jays played up Dickey's childhood story 5.He reminds me of Hans Gruber from Diehard and I couldn't stand Hans 1. So? We will all be old soon. 2. What are you? A fashion critic? 3. That's AA's fault, not RA's. 4. I don't really recall them playing it up. He wrote and sold a book and in promoting it there was a lot of talk about it but other than that I hear more about his childhood story from this board than anywhere else. 5. lol ok

I never get why anyone cares how these guys act. I hated Sammy Sosa. I didn't care for him sprinting into the OF, didn't care for the constant gestures towards the sky, didn't care for the finger kisses double finger taps on the chest in the dugout. Annoying. Same goes for ARod. Annoying but great player.

I don't like active, old players, unless they're legends still playing great into their late 30's (Bonds, Molitor, Clemens) 2. I don't like the old man wearing baggy pants and unkempt look. The Red Sox and their stupid beards.....Lind and his dumb beard...all dumb. 3. People have their dislikes of players. I don't like guys who all of a sudden figure things out late in their careers. Don't like old players, never liked knuckleball pitchers. 4. It wasn't the RA Dickey channel that kept showing him being driven around Toronto and talking about his life story. I knew he was raped/molested before he was traded for. I don't see what the purpose was to bring it up again. Just because he's on a new team doesn't mean he needs to make the new fanbase aware of what happened to him.

Hey now, lay off the beard hate even if Lind's is stupid and Dickey doesn't do good neck or cheek lines.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Sounds like you're not a baseball fan. Moreso of a fan than most.

I didn't mind Damon with the long hair and beard. But Kevin Millar, David Ross, Napoli, Dickey, Lind.....they're f***ing jokes.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 He is extremely weird. He's always choked up with emotion or just being creepy in general. How do you expect him to be a perfectly adjusted adult after a painful childhood. Being creepy and not anything more is probably best case scenario for folks like Dickey
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I don't find him creepy. Just the total lack of responsibility for his shortcomings is frustrating.
jdmo Verified Member Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Why? he's the most analytical guy on the team. he gives you candid answers, no cliches, insight into his mindset. why do so many people on here take issue with his rationalism?

At least Dickey had a mindset, I don't think Lind's qualifies.
