Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 What exactly does being a life long NL player have to do with anything? Everyone knows transferring to the AL means your wRC+ will lower, that's how it works right?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Holy s***, this thread is still open?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 So I ran some simple raw ERA data numbers on players that changed leagues from last season to this season (over the off-season, not during this season). 27 pitchers moved from the NL to the AL 16 pitchers lowered their ERA (by an average of 1.18) 11 pitchers raised their ERA (by an average of 1.37) 23 pitchers moved from the AL to the NL 13 pitchers lowered their ERA (by an average of 1.36) 10 pitchers raised their ERA (by an 1.60) In conclusion I just wasted 25 minutes that I'm never getting back.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Yeah, the rebuild, led by Lawrie (eating Cheetos and drinking Red Bull on his couch), Morrow (eating Cheetos and drinking sugar-free Red Bull on his couch), Rasmus (not sure what he just ate or drank, and not sure where the field is), Santos (tried to eat Cheetos but couldn't hit his mouth), and Escobar (arguing with Chester Cheetah and calling him a maricon whilst posting a -0.1 WAR) would have had the Jays in last place, in the International League. They would have been beaten by the Illinois squad in the LLWS if not for the fateful emergence of JPR-procured Bautista and AA-waived Encarnacion. Imagine all the great contracts he would have brought into the org to fill all the voids left by no Melky, Reyes, Buehrle, Dickey, et al. Remember, AA supposedly had a hard-on for JJ and Bonifacio and that's what led him down the Marlins' fishy rabbit hole. Those guys were pretty awesome. If they kept all the prospects and built internally while keeping Bautista and Edwin, they would have been better off than they are now. I'm not sure where you got building around Lawrie and Morrow from. They still would have been bad over the last two years, unless Alex got some cheap productive players, but may have set themselves up to have a good young rotation by next year (Syndergaard and Alvarez mixed with the current group) with TDA at catcher and no albatross contracts.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well if wins don't come from aging fragile superstars I don't want to know where they come from! Whoooaaa Mr. Jigglypuff back up in this bitch
