Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Chances are Jays will stumble out of gate next gate, doubt he will make much improvement over winter, which should take care of Anthopoulos and Co. I think he should be and will be done after these year.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 There is no rush...if they bomb coming out of gate next year Edwin and/or Jose can be moved with buying team control for 1.33 years or more. That's still enticing for a good haul if they are having decent years. If a miracle happens and we are truly contending they swing away...for us. ...and what happens when they don't bomb out of the gate just like this year? They won't do anything to make the necessary moves to swing away, they just proved that and there is nothing to suggest otherwise. This team had pennant like numbers in June and the organization stood put. They did nothing when Lawrie went down, nothing when Edwin or Lind went down. Nothing when Francisco offensively nosedived 10' in the dirt. Nothing to upgrade the pitching staff over the past year (both starters or relievers). What else does this team have to not do for you guys to realize next year is going to be nothing different? Tear it all down and build a foundation for the long term not 3 year windows.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 I'm probably a Buffalo fan now if anything. I've always liked Tim Murray, and have Sam Reinhart on both my hockey leagues. NHL needs a team in Hamilton, yes?
Smokey Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 AA doesn't deserve to be fired I can't believe people have the audacity to suggest such thing... The year was of course was a disaster as injuries and down years from almost every player happened all at once. Is that AA's fault? Of course not! The problem/blessing is that something happened to AA that basically never happens to any GM; he won the lottery, twice. Poor guy... Because that's what GM's are supposed to do; win right now. 2010 $62,734,000 85-77 2011 $64,567,800 81-81 2012 $82,352,700 73-89 2013 $124,517,800 74-88 2014 $136,466,200 64-62 I thought this board was started for rational baseball discussion? Not f***ing retards.
Nox Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 When AA was presented with a massive trade that 99% of GM's would've pulled the trigger on (if it was financially feasible) he pulled it hard. I'm assuming that you're talking about the Marlins deal. If that's true, this statement is completely erroneous.

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How can you just become a fan of a team. That I'll never understand I don't really get emotionally invested in sports teams anymore. I just kind of have teams I like every year for various reasons.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 How can you just become a fan of a team. That I'll never understand Funny how divorce rates are so high...but people stay loyal to sports teams. I loved my wife a whole lot more than I loved the Jays, Sens, and maybe even the Duke Blue Devils, but my marriage still didn't last and I moved on from that. Moving teams you like is nothing in comparison.
Hawkins Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 If they traded Bautista right after signing him they'd have even MORE difficulty signing free agents. What's harder then can't sign FA now?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Apparently he could have something else lined up and is rumored that his family hates the weather in Toronto. If that's the case then they better be prepared to move out of North America. You're either freezing and digging out of snow, sweating and thirsty or running from a hurricane on this continent. Honestly Toronto has some of the best weather North America has to offer when you consider relatively normal temperatures and no worries of natural disasters.

Thats my thought as well. He sounds happy to be here and I could see why the players have a great relationship with him.

GNick49 Verified Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Anthopoulos has lost a lot of trades and handed out bad contracts. Fleeced on the Halladay trade, Dickey has not worked out, Josh Johnson was a miserable mistake, Napoli he gave a good power bat away, Yan Gomes he never recognized talent under his own nose, Rasmus another mistake I don't think he has it to turn this team into a winner. Spent tons of money but this team does not gel.

Hasn't signed any bad contracts really and I would say that has actually been a strength of his. Rasmus trade was not a mistake. He gave up a couple relievers, prospect that has turned into nothing and Corey Patterson for a player that gave the team 5 WAR last season.

Hasn't gave out no bad contracts...what dimension you living in...must be nice. What do you call Ricky Romero, Morrow, not pursueing Darvish. I think he is terrible handling contracts. Rasmus is a headcase...doesn't care if they win or lose, some days even if he shows up. AA never gave up much for him because he's a nutbar. Why build on players like that...very few teams would want that
