That doesn't even make sense. He has shut us down aside from the first two batters.

Yeah.... but he is technically shutting us down if we don't score any runs, which is what he has been doing all year. So who cares what his xFIP is.

 

I'm not sure you understand how this works, his xFIP says that because he's allowed limited groundballs and hasn't struck out many that he's not fooling anyone. He's playing in a massive stadium, and getting lucky, just like he has all year. If all hitters fly out to a leaping OF at the fence it wouldn't mean he's shutting anyone down, just getting lucky.

Yes it does. Do you know what is implied by "shutting us down". It means we haven't gotten many (or any) runs or even hits. Thats a description of the results, not a description of how the results should be based on average "luck"
