Notes:

Jays:

  • Hutchison was actually more impressive than Hernandez in his last start, allowing one hit - a solo homer - while striking out eight in 8 2-3 innings of Wednesday's 5-1 win over Baltimore.
  • Melky Cabrera reached eight times Sunday alone, going 3 for 5 with five walks to become the first player to reach eight-plus times in one game since Rod Carew had five hits and three walks for Minnesota on May 12, 1972. Cabrera is batting .388 with a .488 on-base percentage over his last 17 games.

Tigers:

  • Hernandez is 8-2 with a 1.42 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and .168 opponents' average in those starts, the latest of which resulted in a 4-2 home win over Atlanta on Tuesday. The Seattle ace allowed a run and four hits while striking out eight over eight innings for his first victory in four starts.
  • The Mariners have won five of six after Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Logan Morrison extended his hitting streak to 11 games, though just one has been a multihit effort.

Pretty good career #s vs. King Felix. We have a shot. And of course, the Mariners offense is lousy.

We do seem to have better results against hard throwing righties than we do against crafty lefties and junkballers. I wonder if that bears out or if that's just our perception?

Wow Colby Rasmus has a .714 batting average against Felix!

It's only 7 AB but let's disregard that and throw a big shiny graphic on the screen and ramble on about it for 10 minutes!

Really don`t like sitting Reyes in a crucial game when we have an off day on Thursday. Time to man up. It`s the f***ing stretch run.

Agree. Tied with Seattle, I could see if there's no off days for a while but FFS earn your 17 million dollars. Angels sat Hamilton and Red Sox sat Ortiz yesterday but Hamilton was in a slump and Ortiz is much older. Give me a break.

Maybe we can score a lucky 1 or 2 runs tonight and Hutch can pitch a gem.

Will try not to get mad at the boys for striking out a ton tonight, gonna happen.

No s*** eh? Rest day in the middle of a playoff push? weak

Why does Reyes "need" the day off? He's a god damn professional athlete. If he's not hurt he should be playing.

Seriously though... 98% of the time they are standing still or sitting... they have like 5 days off this month.
