...and I think with no money as his disposal, his method of investing in the bullpen will be to turn his once top prospect into his full time closer.

I could see Sanchez on the pen, but would he get the closer role out of the gate? History leads me to believe that AA is not going to be satisfied going into the season with Loup and Cecil as his only established pen arms and Sanchez in the mix. He's going to want 4-5 guys back there with experience. If not Janssen, I think he invests in at least one, but probably more, of Miller, Uehara, Grilli, K-Rod, Gregerson, Cain etc... I think money will be spent there.

I agree with Hurl here. With Santos, McGowan, and Delabar all basically writing their ticket out of town this year, I will be pretty surprised if AA lets Janssen walk. He's shown an inclination to invest in the bullpen before. Something along the lines of a 3/21 deal seems likely.

I think Santos, Mcgowan and Delabar showing that reliever performance is a crapshoot year to year should tell AA you don't want to give Janssen more than 13 million and I think we all know he will get more than that. Especially with Janssen's performance on a big decline.

I'm going to do what I hate that others do, but I'm going to pretend to be a psychic.

Does a talented RP like Casey want to stay with an organization that seems dead set on getting blood from the stone that is the current Jay roster without committing more to it? I'm not saying he's right, but Casey piping up in the media about not getting reinforcements says to me that while he might want to stay, he's probably already mentally noted that he doesn't want to waste his career playing for a corporation who doesn't share his goals to the fullest (winning). Casey's been here through two regimes and two "contending" cores (Wells-Rios-Doc-Hill and now Jose-Edwin-Lawrie-Reyes). Any employee in Casey's sitation who isn't disgruntled with his bosses is probably not in it for championships.

Yeah right, if Casey is offered a lucrative contract he'll resign that I have no doubt about.

Who has a contract that isn't year to year in that bullpen? I think its a reach. Its obvious without the stats to see him declining. I think Casey's career won't last much longer.

It's not about what he will do...it's what he's done. If Casey doesn't implode this season I think the Jays will consider him priority. Not making the playoffs might change things a little bit and they will go younger in the pen. I can see the press conference now "We were a sub .500 team before Casey came back from his injury in Mid-May and his return got everything back on track and kept us in contention all year"

What it should tell him and what it will tell him are tow very different things. We're talking about the man that traded Napoli for Francisco and guaranteed CoCo $4.5 million because saves.

I think the Francisco trade was all about the draft pick and that they had Arencibia as their starter. The CoCo move was awful though.

Do you really believe that they let Casey walk? He'll get close to a FA contract by the Jays IMO

It was idealistic, not realistic lol

He'll go to the highest bidder most likely, yeah. But what are the chances AA has enough to be the highest bidder on a proven closer?

BTW McGowan was never a good reliever. Let's stop this misconception

Never really a dominant SP at any point in his pro' career either. Hype outpaced what he did on the mound.

While there are a few crappy stadiums I've been to I don't think I've ever had a bad time at a minor league stadium. This past weekend was supposed to be my Erie/Lake County/Buffalo weekend I do. I had to cancel though. Next summer I hope to get back to seeing a lot of live games.

Keep me in mind for the trip next year Kev.

Least favourite MiLB game I've seen was in Vegas. It turned into a humid night...said it was 87 degrees in the boxscore, but felt close to 100. My wife hates baseball, so when she's sitting beside me I can feel the "I can't wait till we leave" feeling emanating from her. And some bird behind us who sounded exactly like Cletus Spuckler from the Simpsons kept yelling before every pitch "come on Brett, fire the damn ball".......every pitch, even when Cecil was out of the game, it was still Brett.

Have you followed AA's career? If Casey wants to stay in Toronto, Jays will pay him.

Sadly there's no option to trade any more. It's either we'll keep you, or let you walk.

There's no more trades to extend windows, or get value out of players who may be leaving.

Read somewhere, that Casey's agent went to the Jays during the off season about an extension, but AA said no. He wanted to wait until after this season to negotiate.

Thats pretty smart as you would never want to extend a relief pitcher with a year left on his contract. What does this have to do with Norris though?

If he has two more starts like today, do you call him up?

What was his final line? I knew he was starting because along with the "Out of Town Scores" in the stadium they put the Bisons and showed Norris as the winning pitcher in a scoreless game from the opposing team.

6 2 0 0 1 10

5 GO, 1 FO, 82 pitches (51 strikes). 0 XBH. In the bottom of the third he struck out the side in order, all swinging (incl. Nick Franklin), generating seven (!) swinging strikes in that frame alone.

It's hard to have a better start than that.

That's awesome, great to see him dominating like that.

Jesus. If he carries that over to the MLB we may have something solid with Hutch/Stro/Norris. Sanchez may get in there too..

If one of Osuna, Hoffman or Pimp Foley pan down the road..

And to think, I had 2 idiots at work who were pissed off we didn't trade him for 2 months of Andrew Miller at the deadline.

Casual fans are the worst.

What is Norris' arsenal?

What does his fastball hit?

He'll likely be around 95 mph from the left side out of the pen (if he were a september callup) with his fastball, and also has a nasty curve. He could very well have a Sanchez like impact, not quite as nasty, but from the left side.

Touches 96, sits 92-94. Curveball, change both are reported to be above average. Average control.

I never thought Norris would come close to the majors this year, but I think our FO is crazy enough to promote him, and that would be quite the jump.
