GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 My BOY. Maybe a Sept call up. Dunno if I like that.
baubau Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Wow. I am surprised it happened this early. Certainly more warranted than Sanchez's promotion earlier in the year but I would have thought he'd have finished the year in AA and then moved up begging/early next year. Either way, whoop!
ace3113 Verified Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Might as well give him a shot. Call him up in September for the stretch run. You never know when a pitcher is going to get injured, might as well have him using those bullets to help your team.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 tfw Daniel Norris is going to be a beast.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Its pretty clear Jays should not bring back any bullpen arms not named Loup or jenkins. Trade or let go anything too expensive. Cheap 2015 bullpen
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 And rotation, I see no reason why we need to spend over $35 million on pitching next year. Trading Buehrle midseason could have gotten a top prospect but now you're just trading for salary relief. No point, keep him to eat innings
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 And rotation, I see no reason why we need to spend over $35 million on pitching next year. You think there are any takers for Buerle or Dickey on the trade market? We'd have to eat salary for sure.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Nobody is actually surprised by this are they?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 If a team wants a one year contract from a healthy durable decent arm like buehrle, gimme something good
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Trading Buehrle midseason could have gotten a top prospect but now you're just trading for salary relief. No point, keep him to eat innings There is a point if you have a cheaper alternative. Spend the money elsewhere to improve the team.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Stroman, Hutch, Sanchez, Norris all starting next year. Fap fap fap
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Its pretty clear Jays should not bring back any bullpen arms not named Loup or jenkins. Trade or let go anything too expensive. Cheap 2015 bullpen IMO the only arms worth keeping next year that have pitched this year in the pen are Loup and Cecil (Sanchez is prob ably back starting). I'm pretty concerned that this means a lot of assets will be dumped into the pen this offseason though.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 There is a point if you have a cheaper alternative. Spend the money elsewhere to improve the team. Are you serious, have you watch any baseball this year? All those young arms breaking down. Buehrle is more valuable now then 4 years ago

Buehrle is more valuable now then 4 years ago I know.. There could be cheaper alternatives that could be picked up in the off season. Stay calm.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 CP - External addition (Neshek? Grilli?) LHRP - Loup LHRP - Cecil LHRP - Nolin/Rasmussen RHRP - Wagner RHRP - Drabek RHRP - External addition (Delgado? Dunn? Morin? Fields? Germen?)
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 The point is I wouldn't trade him for just salary relief Not unless AA has a viable replacement, i agree.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Pen will be fine next year. Cecil has the potential to be a borderline elite reliever if he can stay healthy, Redmond/Loup/Jenkins are under control. So many red flags with Janssen as of late. Really hope he isn't re-signed. But yeah, let's see some more Cecil down the stretch please. Strikeouts and groundballs for days.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Not unless AA has a viable replacement, i agree. not what I meant but valid point.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 What about Redmond? Possibly Korecky? Yeah Redmond is a glaring omission there.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 What about Redmond? Possibly Korecky? Yup, all options. There are just so many relievers lol. I wouldn't mind just taking a leaderboard of the highest SwStr% guys and just throwing them into a pen with Cecil and Loup and seeing what happens.

I really want to see Drabek in September, I believe in him as an RP. Should slide in to a middle relief spot pretty easily next season

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I'd like to see Burns at AAA to end this season. Maybe even Pompey.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Oh and speaking of relievers, maybe John Stilson is injured, but if he's healthy by next ST, he could be an option. It's also not out of the question that Delabar regains some of his 2013 form, just the nature of relievers.
