Of course you will.

Lol he's a joke

He's just pissy because the Rays aren't doing so well.

You guys really need to look into attrition. I f***ing love the Jays' pitching prospects but even I'm being realistic about this.

His posts on the matter have nothing to do with the Jays specifically.

Anyone think the jays did the promotion to take the spot light off Lawrie and there incompetent medical staff?

no

expected this promotion.

How many people have made the trip to Buffalo to watch a game this season?

I have. Tickets are super cheap and the stadium is pretty nice for a minor league team. It's a really good time and there's always awesome seats available.

You should go!

I don't mind the idea of trying to unload MB and Dickey it would depend on how much of MBs contract we would have to eat. If we have to eat any of it would it not be worth it to keep him as protection? Having a guy that can give you 200 innings with a crop of young young pitchers seems like pretty good insurance for one year while they get their feet wet.

Try to deal Dickey, Reyes and Bau to get a haul and some solid salary relief

Why would you deal Bautista?

How long does it take to cross the border on a week day?

CP - External addition (Neshek? Grilli?)

Do you really believe that they let Casey walk? He'll get close to a FA contract by the Jays IMO

If the Blue Jays were smart they wouldn't sign him anywhere north of 5 million on a two year deal which he obviously will get more than that.

Declining velocity, strikeouts and groundballs for a pitcher is terrible news for future performance.

I really doubt that. Injuries and alex trying to replace him with Santos leads me to believe they don't place a high value on him

While there are a few crappy stadiums I've been to I don't think I've ever had a bad time at a minor league stadium. This past weekend was supposed to be my Erie/Lake County/Buffalo weekend I do. I had to cancel though. Next summer I hope to get back to seeing a lot of live games.

And a couple years later you'd be bitching about their mediocrity and wishing the next crop of youngins would come in, becusse they're more exciting. Prospects and backup QBs are always better, if the starters aren't elite.

Doesn't change the fact that I'd rather watch the young guys with potential over our shitballers and Happ

This is a 100% B.S., gut feeling hunch but I think Casey walks and Sanchez closes.

Sanchez will be a starter next season....not a closer

...and I think the Jays are already preparing for life after Casey.

Assuming Casey walks, I think AA goes with Loup as a closer. This depends on who he can pick up off the market, though. I do think Loup is a realistic consideration for the Jays' FO though (not necessarily one I endorse, but cheapskates will cheapskate).

Loup is a pretty good LOOGY but he isn't a closer. Struggles against RH so he is more valuable against other club's LH bats in high leverage situations.

Have you followed AA's career? If Casey wants to stay in Toronto, Jays will pay him.

Might not be in AA's hands. We don't know what the payroll's going to be.

I wouldn't want him going up against lefties and righties willy nilly either, but assuming no moves get made to bolster the 'pen (a reasonable assumption considering the last twelve months) and Casey leaves, there aren't many options left that I think the FO will consider. The power righties in the org are all gascans and there's almost nothing more frustrating than a contract closer gascan.

That said, I'm just spouting conjecture on management thinking. I agree with you, burl.

I agree with Hurl here. With Santos, McGowan, and Delabar all basically writing their ticket out of town this year, I will be pretty surprised if AA lets Janssen walk. He's shown an inclination to invest in the bullpen before. Something along the lines of a 3/21 deal seems likely.

...and I think with no money as his disposal, his method of investing in the bullpen will be to turn his once top prospect into his full time closer.

Okay then...knowing what we know about AA, where is he more likely to go on the cheap Bullpen or OF?

Who has a contract that isn't year to year in that bullpen? I think its a reach. Its obvious without the stats to see him declining. I think Casey's career won't last much longer.

If only he knew that these contract he was acquiring went up in salary over years. This information should be included in trades.

I'm going to do what I hate that others do, but I'm going to pretend to be a psychic.

Does a talented RP like Casey want to stay with an organization that seems dead set on getting blood from the stone that is the current Jay roster without committing more to it? I'm not saying he's right, but Casey piping up in the media about not getting reinforcements says to me that while he might want to stay, he's probably already mentally noted that he doesn't want to waste his career playing for a corporation who doesn't share his goals to the fullest (winning). Casey's been here through two regimes and two "contending" cores (Wells-Rios-Doc-Hill and now Jose-Edwin-Lawrie-Reyes). Any employee in Casey's sitation who isn't disgruntled with his bosses is probably not in it for championships.
